Carson on Medicare |
JLarry |
Just saw on FOX that Carson wants to eliminate Medicare.
I like Carson but unless he has a good explanation about this I am out with Carson. _________________ Recorded Sermons @ www.pastorwiley.com

This is his lack of political or even business experience showing. He's a great guy, but not Presidential. |

There are some things that sound good to an individual in thinking of their own and family security. So in looking at his earlier position he has changed his mind, GOOD. YOu must respect a person who can change a position when he sees the bigger picture.
Yes his earlier statement was ignorance of the big picture, maybe reality. There is no way anyone can demolish Medicare outright without a solid system to back it up, and I am sure there are ways to cut waste in the medicare system, it is a cash cow for many doctors squeezing the old people for every penny they can bill the government.
In cases like this, yes political ignorance shows through, but easily fixed with a dose of realism.
(But wait, realism hasn't worked in the past few years.....) _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

Well, in all fairness, he thought about abolishing Medicare a while back before he talked with economists. That's what he says in the MSNBC article. Although the way the quote reads is confusing.
Quote: | I’m not a politician,” Carson said. “So don’t say that because I thought this a while ago before I had an opportunity to talk to a lot of economists and various people and cost it out that I can’t change my mind.” |

Well, let me just tell you. I’m telling you right now, with the indigent people, 80 million to $400 billion goes 5,000 times. $5,ooo dollars each man, woman and child. What could you buy with that? A concierge practice generally costs $2-3,000 dollars a year and you still have a couple thousand dollars left over for your catastrophic insurance, which is much cheaper now because the only thing coming out of it is catastrophic insurance. Everything else is going to come out of your health savings account.
