Post Would "YOU" want a pastor who had fell morally? Old Time Country Preacher
I didnt wanna hijack Rough's thread bout churches acceptin fellers who fell morally, but was curious about the average Acts poster.

Would "YOU" want a pastor who you knowed had fell morally, committed adultery for a year before he was caught, an brought shame on his family, church, the ministry and Jesus?

Post Moral Failure animus
OTCP, do you only identify sexual failure as moral failure? I am dismayed that so many bright people such as yourself reduce "moral failure" to sexuality. Is lying moral failure? Is pride moral failure? Is lust moral failure? Is envy moral failure? Etc., etc., etc.

To loosely quote Rabbi," What pastor hasn't had moral failure?"

Im a mite surprised that bright fellers such as yall cant lock in on the specific moral failure the ole timer was talkin bout in the first post. I specifically said, would "YOU" want a pastor who had committed adultery for a year before he got caught.

Now, if a feller was known to have done this very thing, we aint talkin bout forgiveness, mercy, love an restoration.

Would "YOU" want a pastor who you knowed had done this?

How do any of us really know we DON'T have a pastor like that. For me, a man who has been the recipient of great mercy and grace, good enough for Jesus = good enough for me.

There are men now serving faithfully and honorably who were once men like you described. That is, I suppose, why 1st Corinthians 6:9-11 says "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

to answer you question without trying to change it or the subject...

No I would not like to have a pastor who was caught on adultery and was found out that he/she was having an affair for a year.

that is not a difficult question. why try to dodge it?

Post Let Me Ask BV COG
Which is worse, a restored minister that committed adultery or a restored minister that stole thousands of dollars from a church?

Post Re: Would "YOU" want a pastor who had fell morally Brenda
Why is it SO hard for us to accept one such as this behind a pulpit but not for God? Sad

I know there's got to be a place where we can get at in God, to look at people as God does. With an agape love.
Else how can we be able to speak love and God's acceptance to the hardest of sinners. Without feeling that love within our selves.

Reading the other similar post. My thoughts keep going back to David and what he did the conniving the planning, the adultery and murder he committed yet in Psalms 51 He cries out to God..

Have Mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

10) Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

12) Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation;

13) Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

I don't think there was any one worse than David and Paul outside of Judas who betrayed Christ. He could of gotten forgiveness to, I believe, if he had of repented like Peter did.

How many of you that want an adulterous pastor actually have one? And if you don't, why are you not searching for one?

Post Would I want a pastor that had to be restored? Paul Bearer
I have very mixed feelings about it.

But I tend to lean with this opinion: I believe that a man can be forgiven and be in right standing with God, but there are some sins that even though forgiven, would disqualify a person from certain ministry positions.

Honesty my heart hurts for people who have let sin and struggles get the best of them.

One question!

Has anyone reading this who is possibly a minister get saved from a past of sin?

Thank the Lord that He is the God of a second chance.
I would stand behind a pastor like that, committed an error was found out or addmitted it asked for forgiveness and was restored before I could a man who behind the scenes has worse sin but is better at living with himself and keeping it hidden!
