I know the Washington Post has a liberal bias and probably would love to see Roy Moore defeated, but this story shows they are not swallowing every accusation.

To be fair(?), political games have gotten so dirty lately that if a news source can be shown to be in error, it allows all related accusations to be called into question. It might actually be that the Post, in wanting to keep up their efforts against Moore (who certainly IS questionable on this matter), have to be very diligent to not get taken with a false flag event.

Make sense?

Yes, that makes sense, and I see it as a good thing. Whatever their motivation, it is good that they kept good journalistic skepticism. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

The red-flag was probably the fact that they hadn't gone out and created this one from scratch. Shocked Shocked Shocked Laughing Laughing Laughing

I have friends in AL who believe some of the stories, but do not think it is a surviving character flaw, if in fact it was a flaw, since no one can come up with any thing credible since his marriage 30 yrs ago.

I am not a voter there, but I am not saying the man is a dirt bag.

I am shocked that congressmen looking around them at men serving with them who have shown FLAWS, yet still yell at not accepting Moore with only allegations at this time. Two faced activity makes me angry! Evil or Very Mad

But to the OP of course I appreciate the reporting of someone who is a fraud. Shocked

There might have been some encounters between the two of them. But her spinning it as if though she was "preyed upon" is laughable. By her own admission she willfully snuck around to see the guy. Back in those days I knew plenty of 14 year old girls who would sneak around to have experimental and casual sexual encounters such as she described having with Moore. If they are sneaking around to strip down to their bra and panties with a boy closer to their age, it's just teenage petting. But if they do with an older man they obviously were attracted to, they were "preyed upon"? I do not buy it. No rape happened. He is did not force himself on her, by her own admission. As Cojak pointed out, many Alabamians do not view this as a surviving character flaw. Polls are strengthening that view.

I'll just say it. When I was 14, advances were made on me by a 25 year old woman. My mom never knew. Believe me, I was not "preyed upon". The thought that the woman should now be shamed publically is unthinkable to me.

According to the laws in Alabama at the time, which would have been known to Moore, yes, she was preyed upon.

Besides the obviousness of not saying anything for 40 years, the real issue I have with this is the distraction it is when the liberal candidate would not have had a ghost of a chance in Alabama without it. Its way too convenient and like I always say, without clear evidence to the contrary, ALWAYS follow the money. I'm glad I don't have to vote, but if presented with the choice of a possible 40-year-old crime and a definite defender of baby-murder and other unbearably evil ideologies, I know which way I'd have to go. Money of office, power, political gain, and simple ratings and gain within the media outlet itself brought by sensationalism (I think they call it "red meat" for their liberal base). Who has something to gain from all this? Everyone knows its far too late for any real, legal settlement of the matter and is, at best a "he said/she-said" , so, follow the money.

Again, More may be a creep and may have done those things. But I know what the other candidate embraces and we're not electing a baby-sitter.

Leigh Corfman isn't getting paid, and she had told friends and family about this long before now.
I haven't really weighed in on the choices as far as voting, but I will say there have been times that I have not voted for either candidate on the ballot.

In 1980 the laws of Florida were the same. Do you consider me as having been preyed upon as well?

The law said something to the effect that if a person took a minor to his or her house for the intention of sexual intercourse, that was illegal. I don't know if it there could be a conviction if the act was not carried through.
In my way of looking at things, if a 30-something-year-old man takes a 14 year old to his house without her parents' knowledge, REGARDLESS of how smitten she thinks she is with him, he is preying upon her.
I don't know the details of the "advances" the 25-year-old woman made to you, but I would consider it "preying upon" whether the older person is male or female if he or she is trying to seduce the minor.

If I am not mistaken, a number of states still have fornication statues on the books which would have made two adults having sex illegal. Fornication statues typically are not enforced these days.

Several years ago, a certain late show host in New York admitted on TV to having an affair. Someone had tried to blackmail him. Even though adultery was punishable by 20 years in prison, the late show host was not prosecuted, but he blackmailer was.

Taking an 18-year-old you aren't married to into your bedroom and fornicating with her is preying on her. But I'd agree when the one being preyed upon is young, the younger they are, the worse it is.
