Therefore, I will initiate a new thread with the names that I will be voting for in the various positions. I look forward to this Assembly. Look to see who is preaching camp meetings in the bigger, Southern states. That's where a lot of the votes will come from. Acts-pert Poster

Post Please think YOUNGER as you VOTE at the General Assembly MartyBaker
We must think about the next generation as we gather this year for the General Assembly. It is time that we band together and move the denomination forward with younger voices leading us. If we don't select young capable men to lead us, then our ability to reach the lost will not be maximized.

Please, please, think younger.

I am not going to fight about the tide for General Overseer. We all know that Tim Hill has already been anointed.

I am 54 years old and have been serving Stevens Creek for 28 years. We are in the top ten churches in the denomination.

I will never forget walking off the stage after our 20th Anniversary at The Creek. The Lord said to me, "You have been here longer than you will be here."

That was a little shocking, but I changed that day. I started focusing on the next generation. We intentionally started hiring younger people on staff. I went to the Elders and told them to nominate people under 30. We were going to be aggressive in training young leaders and giving them an opportunity to lead.

We have done that at Stevens Creek and I believe that's why we have grown exponentially.

I want that same thing to happen for the Church of God. There are MANY qualified people my age that could be and probably will be on the list at the General Assembly, but could you do me a favor, please at least let's elect one or two young leaders. We must THINK younger.

I've been dropping in here on occasions, but haven't posted in awhile. I had to get in on this post, because I see some names being shared that I have been advocating for for years! It is exciting to see them listed by others. I believe the most critical elections at this assembly will be our Council of Eighteen! Here is my list:

Tony Stewart - 44095
Kip Box - 39041
David Smith - 47171
Kevin McGlamery - 45242
Travis Johnson - 46978

Being a successful and leading pastor, why would you want younger pastors who are almost an anomaly to leave strong churches to take positions that mean almost nothing to the growth of the denomination. Who would take their place where they are now serving. Just sincerely asking?

Post Didn't a young guy at the last assembly aprilmay2.0
try to get a motion for the council of 18 to have at least one person under the age of 40 to be elected?

I honestly don't know more than 10 guys under 40 who are leaders in the COG.

That sounds like a good thread. Ill start it now.

Just an interesting question - How does anyone know who is going to be elected, for example, G.O. or the top officials? I would hope that the votes aren't "rigged". I think all of them are good men but I do favor the older ones for leadership. and I am entitled to it) Friendly Face

I don't think JD can go back to the same spot.

So,

Hill
Stephens
Culpepper
Propes
Isaacs, Madden, Childers, or whoever is getting votes at the end.

At the last GA we determined that anyone can serve in one position for long as they are on the committee. Other than that u are right. I'm okay with all those guys but admittedly am a personal friend of Isaacs
