Thanks to everyone who prayed for my trip overseas. When I came back, the dean emailed me saying he expected HR to make an offer. I'd heard from someone at the school that the dean didn't play the same role deans in the US do. In the US, department heads may be able to hire faculty. It's all centralized at this school. He mentioned a number in an email that they might offer. But I might have to pay for my family's flight there. The air is reasonably okay in this city.
Then, last night, I had a Skype interview with an American administrator at a university in my wife's country. I don't know about the salary, but they sure took care of their expat employees, a nice upscale apartment rather than the university apartments in the other country I went to, a car and driver provided, flights back home every year for the family (if I understand him correctly.)
Both provide education for the kids. The first school had a home school curriculum and a college grad from the US teaching lessons. The second has what amounts to an international school that follows a US curriculum and offers US tests every year to benchmark against US education.
The whole city smells like diesel fumes and you can't always see clearly across the street. I used to live less than a mile from the school.
I can see opportunities for ministry in both places.
The second job would give me opportunities to work in administration, which might give me the experience I need to know how to do what I believe the Lord has called me to do. He said he wanted to hire me and to expect an offer in about 10 days.
So I'm still praying about this. The situation and answered prayers made it seem like the first country was the place to go. I had a rather specific answer to prayer while applying. The second school seems to fit well with certain aspects of my calling.
Please pray for God to give me wisdom. It does feel good to be wanted. I haven't got the offers in hand. Well, I did have a low-ball offer from the first school before the trip out there. I want to praise God that He's giving me favor and they are showing interest. Please help me pray for the Lord to lead to the right situation.
