Post Former AB & NGA Pastor Ed Davenport has passed from this life to Heaven's reward doyle
Moments ago, Rosella Davenport, the wife of former North Georgia Pastor Ed Davenport, announced that he has passed from this life.

"She said, "It is with deep sorrow and exceeding joy that we wish to tell you of the passing of Pastor Edward Davenport from the bonds of this earth. His passing was peaceful and we know he is with the Lord."

Funeral arrangements are yet to be determined.

For decades, Ed Davenport was the Pastor of the Buford, Georgia Church of God. He has been one of the more influential ministers in the state. He has often been elected by his fellow ministers to serve on the top boards and committees that help form policy and direction for the state.

Our thoughts and prayers today go out to Brother Davenports family, his friends and the members of the Buford Church of God. At this time, we remember his wife Rosella, who has been, and is, a dynamic woman of faith.

Ed pastored the Monroe CoG and served as State ED.

He also served as Overseer of Washington and I believe Texas.

Ed preached for me when I pastored Dawsonville.

Pastor Davenport retired from Buford about 4 years ago and moved back to Monroe, where he became a faithful member of the church that grew significantly during his ministry there in the mid 1970's. David Smith is the current pastor at Monroe. He posted this on his facebook this morning:

"One of the most humbling honors of my life was to serve as Ed Davenport's pastor during the last four years. Bro Davenport was bigger than life in so many ways. He was such an encourager to me. The people at Monroe Church of God loved him. He pastored in Monroe and led this church through an unprecedented season of growth that has impacted our entire city for decades. His evangelism model at Monroe was used as a model for the entire Church of God during the late 1970's. His investment into my life and ministry is a valuable treasure to me. Please pray for Rose, Mark, Michelle & their extended family during this time. Welcome home Bishop Edward Davenport!"		 Friendly Face
