Georgia LGBT Bill - NFL says no Super Bowl if Governor signs it (L) |
Nature Boy Florida |
NFL doesn't like the religious exemptions bill - to protect Christian businesses / churches from LGBT demanding they all bow down to them.
Is Gov. Nathan Deal a Christian?
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/03/20/nfl-says-georgia-religious-exemptions-bill-might-cost-atlanta-super-bowl-bid.html?intcmp=hpbt2
We have the local team (Jaguars) pressuring us(Jacksonville) the same way.
I'm tired of it.
Maybe I will vote Trump.
maybe I will start talking vulgar.
I need to do something different.
Tired of big companies telling religious folks what to do - asking us to roll over about everything...or else. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

I have never understood why these big companies feel the need to get involved in social issues, especially when they alienate 50% of the population to favor 2%. Is that even a smart business decision? _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

I wonder how the players feel about that. How many of them really want gay dudes in the locker room watching them undress? _________________ Link |

How about we refuse... |
Paul W. Nolan |
To give the NFL our money? I don't know how many times I hear of the members of our churches buying tickets, concessions, souvenir jerseys, etc. on SUNDAYs by going to the football games that the NFL has scheduled on SUNDAY.
How about we turn the table on this one and not agree to spend the 100's of dollars per individual, 1000's of dollars per group, ad infinitum...and then see how the NFL feels about that? |

That is a great idea Paul, but this nation, church included, is sports crazy. Talk about a Christian voting for Trump, I get flustered at semi literate men being paid millions to entertain and much of it from Christians.. I wish I could see an answer, but our folk are going to attend and support, no matter the cost and repercussions. A pastor in an NFL city just might lose his job thinking like that. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

While I agree with your statement... |

I just can't help but wonder why Christians will continue to support something that obviously doesn't support our efforts. I guess when it comes to LGBT we're just supposed to throw our hands up and surrender.
Don't get me wrong, I still believe that lifestyle, if it truly can be called that, is wrong according to God's Word. And yet, how many other things do we close our eyes to that God's Word also says is wrong?
I like football as much as any other person, but at some point, I just won't care to watch it because it will so concerned about everything else but football. |

A case of disproportionate fear.... |
Aaron Scott |
Just how many LGBT watch the NFL? Supposedly, only about 5% of the population is gay. So even if we lost ALL of those viewers....
It if fear of being called a bigot? Afraid that fellow travelers of the LGBT group will get up in arms?
Why aren't such organizations afraid of US??? We number in the millions, yet they fear us less. Maybe we've shown we will easily fold, will quickly align with whatever THEY want us to do, etc. |

Take the Super Bowl somewhere else! Keep your money. The NFL is not the decision-maker of morality or pastoral ministry. In America, people should not be forced to close their business because they don't want to bake a cake for someone, OR pastors be forced to perform wedding ceremonies for those in lifestyles with which their faith disagrees.
If gay people want to get married, that is up to them. Though I disagree with it from a Biblical perspective, I think the Constitution most likely supports their right to do that. It's called "Equal Access" under the law. If heterosexuals can marry, those who are not, have equal access to marriage.
However, no person should be forced to perform a marriage ceremony for anyone; hetro or metro.
That is my opinion. What's yours?

Doyle, I'm with you except that I don't think 'equal access' extends to changing the definition of marriage.
I especially like your opening lines. 'Take your Super Bowl somewhere else! Keep your money.' |

For all our posturing about we are too holy to vote for Trump or Hillary or whomever, when the rubber meets the road - Christians don't want to appear angry - so we go along with everything.
Muslims ok.
LGBT ok.
Adultery ok.
We stand for nothing - and cop out by saying we aren't a Christian nation - so who are we to say what should and shouldn't be done.
Who are we NOT to say?
We got a vote - we are expected to use it wisely.
We got money - we are expected to use it wisely.
If we need to march in the streets - then we should do it.
If we need to care more, love more, help more - we should do it.
However, All someone has to do is say "I think of all Christians as haters" and we roll over and wonder what WE are doing wrong... and pull back.
Someday there will be nothing left to pull back from.
Christians should hate SIN. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |

Now Disney says they are pulling out of all work there.
Doesn't this bill just protect pastoral speech and stuff like that?
I've always been on Disney's side when folks threaten to boycott them - but perhaps Disney is showing us that is how to get things done. _________________ Whether you like it or not, learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! |
