Why do you laugh at that????
Man of God, it should drive you to your knees in anguish and sorrow! Don't roll in laughter at it. I am not judging you because I have done the same, until very recently. But God has rocked my heart and I see now that we must weep and pray over these things, and desperately seek God to change them, if by any means any will listen to Him. |

It is a matter of sorrow/anguish, Dave. To even imagine that Holy Spirit filled folk would entertain such a thing is disheartening.
At the same time, it is just a bit humorous thinkin of a feller openin one a them little fortune cookies thinkin its a message from God. |

I can't in good conscience say anything to you, because just a couple of weeks ago, I'd have been not only seeing the humor, but likely openly mocking it. But OTCP, I am now seeing the heart of a Father who is looking down on his children thinking He is speaking to them through a piece of paper inside a cookie, and there is no laughter in His face. Brother, you are right that you have been singing this song a long time. But what are we going to do about it? We need to get on our faces in mourning and weeping and pray that God will change it. |

I agree that we should pray for them, but the only way I got away from this nonsense is a desire for the truth. If someone desires "teachers because they have itching ears" how can they be turned?
In my opinion their world must be shaken until those things which cannot be shaken remain. |

That verse came to me, too, when I read some of the comments under the video. It seemed some people were more upset with the person who exposed Brian Carn than with Brian Carn himself. I did think of how people believe what they want to believe.
2 Timothy
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. |

And yet, I'm sure you also saw in your search who he shares pulpits with. Can I say names? I'm going to say names. DayStar TV, Rod Parsley, Benny Hinn.
If these are men of God, why can they not discern who is in their midst? I find this very troubling. |

Here is a video response from Carn. It is a little over 4 minutes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mutzhZa-964
It's not really worth watching, he just says it is all a lie, that the people saying it are going to "burn", and that he will address it more broadly in his upcoming conference, which you should really, really come to, by the way. |

This is video from a service that was held either Jan 21, Jan 22, or Jan 23, 2015, 20-22 days after Carn took the words of the psychic:

How can I possibly accept that Benny Hinn's ministry is worth an ounce of my attention when he is sharing his platform with a man who ruinously deceived God's people not four weeks prior? How can this be viewed as anything but false works and parlor tricks? (Call out a number in a huge group of people, and someone will associate it with something; that's just probability.)
Am I saying Benny Hinn is a false teacher? I am not. Nor I am saying he is not a false teacher. I haven't seen enough of his ministry to know. But how can he be respected, or accepted, as a man of God when he gives a platform to a deceiver, seemingly unaware? How can he say he hears from God, when he did not hear about this? I felt uncomfortable in my spirit just watching Carn. How could Benny Hinn stand on a platform that he gave this man, and not feel the same? |

Several years ago, my parents went to this kind of funky 'prophetic movement' church when I came in after living for quite some time overseas. The preaching seemed really light on the word to me. I mentioned that to them, and they kind of agreed and I think they were thinking of doing it, because they ended up looking for another church.
But while we were going there, we went out to a Chinese restaurant with someone from church. I asked if it were divination to read Chinese fortune cookies. A young man from the church said he just read the cookies for the lottery numbers. (He was joking I guess)
My parents reminded me of that several years later. The young man was John Crowder who got into the 'drunken glory' stuff and is now into various popular teachings on grace. _________________ Link |

I've seen some Carn videos and to get some of the 'words' he gets, either something has to be set up like Poppoff had in the '80's, or something supernatural is going on, like getting individuals bank account numbers. To me, that makes the psychic thing all that more alarming.
Carn still has these prophecies listed on his website. I emailed him and asked him about the psychic. I wonder how a preacher would defend this? I suppose you could say that different people may have gotten the prophecies, the devil heard it, etc. That wouldn't explain half of them not being fulfilled. But the delivery of the message was unclear as to whether all of them would occur in 2015.
I think I read of a pork disease in the UK, but not in the US. Carn's audience that he was speaking to seemed to be in the US. _________________ Link |

For me its the opposite. I saw some Carn videos, and then I saw him telling people they could give $40 to Benny Hinn's ministry to get a blessing, and that made wary of Carn. _________________ Link |

Benny Hinn is a proven false prophet himself, numerous times. He prophesied in the 1990s that God would destroy the homosexual community by fire no later than 1995, that Fidel Castro would die in the 1990s, and in the year 2000, Hinn claimed God had revealed to Him that Jesus would soon "appear physically" on the stage of Hinn's upcoming crusades. I kid you not. It is amazing to me that anyone believes a word he says. Hinn is a charlatan of the first order. |

No, you're not kidding, Wyatt, that is exactly what Hinn claimed. I seen the documented source (although I don't remember where) where the ole boy said it. |

In the main, Trippy, it is no laughing matter. For purposes of Actscelerate I've often posted in jest, knowing that there were some posters, whether past/present, who have gone to bat for some of the guys you've mentioned in this thread. It is a matter of deception. When folk do not "test the spirits to see if they from God," hey, they gonna be open to anything. We even got preachers in the COG what embraces somma this kinda stuff. It is shameful. |

Dave Dorsey makes a great point about the need for us to pray for the body of Christ to discern what is the Holy Spiritt versus another spirit or just plain deception. I am praying with you and others Dave! |

Bonnie, you are right on in sharing the above scriptures in light of Christians being deceived today. In light of the fact that II Timothy was the last letter Paul wrote it is interesting he felt an urgency to deal with false doctrine before acknowedging his time upcoming death.
Timothy 3:13-17 also can help Christians and pastors stay on sound doctrine and guard against deception.
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. |
