Race is irrelevant here. Either Roots was an actual portrayal of the every day life of most slaves, or it is plagiarized fraud invented by Alex Haley that might depict the lives of the most extreme cases. Either way slavery was wrong. We all agree on that. But what I am questioning mainly here is motives.

Or the fact that the first legal case in court in the colonies concerning slavery was brought by a free black who was trying to have his escaped African slave returned to him.
