One of the hardest things for a committed Christian to do, is 'Find Another Church'.
I have felt I needed to do that two times in my 77 years, it is tough. That is especially hard if you have attended church and worshiped with the same folk for over 10-40 years, and it is like family.

My wife and I attend different churches most Sundays now. My wife is the most Christian lady I know. About every 10th Church, she will say: If we lived in this area, THAT is where I would attend. I seem to always agree with her.

HOWEVER Three out of those ten I ask myself: "Why does anyone attend here?"

Let me be clear here, since we have attended several churches that Acts posters Pastor. You guys have been some of the best, from Key West to Anchorage Alaska. And from San Diego to Nova Scotia. Smile

Next time you're in my neck of the woods (Modesto, CA) give me a holler - I would love to break bread, might even buy the loaf Laughing Laughing

Post Dean Steenburgh
Notice it says, in the last days:

CEV
2Timothy 3:1 You can be certain that in the last days there will be some very hard times. 2 People will love only themselves and money. They will be proud, stuck-up, rude, and disobedient to their parents. They will also be ungrateful, godless, 3 heartless, and hateful. Their words will be cruel, and they will have no self-control or pity. These people will hate everything that is good. 4 They will be sneaky, reckless, and puffed up with pride. Instead of loving God, they will love pleasure. 5 Even though they will make a show of being religious, their religion won't be real. Don't have anything to do with such people.

We cling to those days we were once familiar with but all we have is this now. Lord, awaken us from slumber to live for you & worship you with a pure heart!

Post Thanks for the Invite DD Cojak
We would count it a joy! We hope to get to the West Coast one more time, But I am now 77 (that is pushing 80) and if we do not do it soon it probably won't happen.

BTW today we attended Chrystal River Church of God in Florida.

Wife and I both agree, if we were close, we would attend here.
Not many members there are looking for excuses to miss church. Smile

Great word Tom. I propose we need to encourage Christians to look for a church that offers them the ability to be challenged and knocked out of their comfort zones so they can grow spiritually.

Preacher777 - right on.

The movie industry adapted. At one time - if you wanted to see a movie - you had to go to the theater. (Even though as a COG member that would have been a bvad thing - but I digress)

Now - you have multiple opportunities to see the movie - on a big screen - with great sound - with better snacks at home. What to do - make the screens bigger, 3 D, etc... something to give them that they CAN'T get at home.

Same with PRO football games - make the fan EXPERIENCE at the stadium something they can't get at home.

What about church - what does your church give that they can't get at home -

Great teaching and preaching isnt the answer (although bad preacing will probably lose folks): They can put Chuck Swindoll or Andy Stanley or Loran Livingston on at the click of a mouse - and most likely get better than they are receiving at your church.

Music: Carrie Underwood is coming to town, or the Gaither Homecoming, or WinterJam.
Prayer: they can call the TBN hotline.
Bringing offerrings: Apple PAY.
Fun activities: Dave and Busters.
Pot lucks: Golden Corral...Cracker Barrel...IHOP.

What can your church do that they can't get at home? - and the answer is - things that a group can do - but an individual can't.

Maximize those - and they will never miss church or it's group activities that ACCOMPLISH something for the kingdom... things that show Christ's hand extended.

Hey, Doc, when you cut and paste a quote into the dialogue box where you are composing a post, look above where you are typing and you will see a row of little boxes that say "B," "i," "u," "quote," "code," "list," etc. The one that says "quote" is the one you will want to click on. What you do is left click and hold while scrolling over your quote to highlight it. Then click on the little box that says "Quote." That should put brackets around your quote that look like this (except without the spaces):
[quote = "Tom Sterbens" ] Let it go. [ /quote ]

If highlighting the person's quote then clicking "Quote" doesn't make sense to you, you could alternately try putting your cursor at the beginning of the quote, click on "Quote," then put your cursor at the end of the quote and click on "Quote" the second time.

A third way to do it is to manually type in the beginning brackets with an equal sign, the word quote, the quotation marks around the person's name and then the end brackets with a backslash and the word quote inside.

Let me know what part is confusing to you, and I will try to clarify.

In other words, if you have this (without the spaces),

[quote = "Confuscius" ] He who get hit by truck get big headache [ / quote ]

it will post like this:
