The MAIN problem is...

The main problem for humanity and the church in particular is not that people don't know the difference between good and evil.

That's not the problem. You can't find life in that.

The PROBLEM:
We're still relying on our knowledge of good and evil to make us like God and give us His quality of life.

Gen 2:2 The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’” 4 The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! 5 For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Eve was deceived.
Adam just didn't believe God.

That Tree still kills.

The SOLUTION:
Believe that God freely gives life.

Jesus came to curse and lay the axe to that fruitless tree of death.
Jesus came to convince us of the goodness of God, to show us the Father and give us something to believe again...so we could live.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life." Jn. 6:47

It's the message of the goodness of God, demonstrated in His Son, that fixes our thinking and brings us back to faith in God.

Rom. 2:4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

This Good News has the power to save.

Rom. 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.”

The righteous man is the man who believes in the righteousness of God revealed in the Good News.
