The word 'evangelical' has been dilluted and drug through the mud.

On the one hand, the media makes it out to be a political group, right wingers who sing 'God bless America' and endorse Trump in their church meetings and things of that nature.

On the other hand, we have had a move toward 'seeker sensitive' Christianity where many preachers say stuff to draw large crowds and stay away from controversy and from communicating anything too doctrinal. Pews, or chairs, of such churches may be filled with people indoctrinated with 'PC' thinking, LGBT-propaganda, feminism, and all kinds of 'isms' without the preaching challenging their worldview.

We also see a decline in actual gospel preaching even among the most conservative evangelical preachers (including Pentecostals). The message of salvation presented is often not faith in Christ crucified and risen, but rather talk of 'personal relationship' and repeating prayers that vaguely reference Jesus without actual preaching of the Gospel. The methodologies do not force people to confront the issues of the Gospel before the churches claim them as Christians. If they are not saved and are not rooted and grounded in the faith, why should we expect them to stick around.
