We still pass the plate and get about 40% of our offering that way. We had online giving prior to COVID and we have added a couple of other online options. However, the bulk of our offerings come via check in the mail from congregants checking account, either from the person directly or from their bank as part of their monthly bill payments. We encourage checks as giving vendors 2.75% of our offerings doesn't seem like great stewardship but we offer these online giving options and many give that way. Frankly, it is a bookkeeping nightmare. Consider that a person gives 100$ thru our app or PayPal or whatever. The vendor takes $2.75 or a smaller amount. We get $97.25 deposited to our checking account but we have to credit the giver $100. But we only got $97.25. So, we have to create a debit for $2.75 in order to balance that out. Now do that for 1 month with 700 to 1000 deposits. You try reconciling the checkbook without missing any deposits nor debits along the way. Encourage your people to put their tithes into their online bill payments monthly. Saves you 2.75% and lots of headaches. But this is 2021 and all our millennial and gen z don't know what a checkbook is. But they still can set it up in their checking accts recurring payments if they try. Member

Our people either use a check or use cash. We have a few seniors who will not even consider using check. It's strictly cash for them. They still pay their bills with cash also.
We have made online giving available for about a year and a half and in that time we have had exactly 3 transactions.

We now offer four giving options.

1-We have giving boxes in the lobby/foyer, marked with signage that makes them easy to see. These are utilized by those giving via cash or check.

2-We have a giving kiosk in the lobby/foyer for those wishing to give online while on campus. This was in place prior to covid.

3- We have online giving via our website. This was also in place prior to covid, however our percentage using online giving has increased.

4- We also offer giving by mail for those not attending services, but not comfortable with using an online method. We launched this as soon as services were shut down, and continue it for those still using this method. We mail them a giving envelope, accompanied with a self addressed, postage paid envelope. When they return it with their giving we send them another.

Up until covid we passed the bags as a means of giving. We've watched the shift, and after a year people are accustomed to using the means we provide. Giving has stayed strong. So we don't see a reason to go back to the pre-covid approach to giving. This saves us that time during the service, and removes the interruption to the flow of worship and ministry.

Just my O.
