Post IDEA: What about COG "Health Check Teams" to meet new people. doyle
It is difficult to reach people unless we meet them. At this time, it seems many people are reluctant to open their homes to people with religious motives.

However, "Health-Check Teams" could possibly open many new doors as a way of getting to know people. Possibly these teams could do a great work in the community as well as give attention to many who are living alone.

Possibly a COG-wide such effort could get our people out into the neighborhoods, be a blessing to a lot of people, and make a lot of new friends for our churches.

It would be wise for such team members to have CPR training and in some cases, after certification, maybe they could give a temperature check or even a blood pressure check.

Loneliness is now so prevalent and medically determined to be catastrophic
health wise, Japan as instituted a new Cabinet-Level Minister of Loneliness.

All the way back in the early part of Genesis, Scripture proclaims, "The LORD God said, "It is not good for man to be alone."

Many of us can still remember Prayer Request for "Shut Ins." These days, loneliness is acute in America as well as other parts of the world. This brings to mind several possible ministries for a local church.

Possibly "Health Check" teams with people who have taken CPR and other courses, could visit people. Medical professionals are now sayin that loneliness is indeed a health issue.

Interesting thought Doyle. I realize there are many people who have decided they will not be returning to in-person church services. I get that. Yet these same people are still going to Walmart, the gas station, and the grocery store, meaning they aren’t exactly shutting themselves off from the world. They are being selective about it.

So, we need to be ready to take advantage of every opportunity to reach them, even if it’s only for a few moments. Our church is preparing to hand out little cards that have our church info on the front and scriptures on the back that point them to salvation. Restaurant servers, convenience store clerks, grocery cashiers, etc.
Hey, it’s a start!

Post Doyle--and ideal job for retired ministers! Aaron Scott
Give a retired minister 50 churches/pastors to contact on a regular basis. It keep them in the saddle and, perhaps best of all, gives them purpose that meets their veteran experiences.

A pastor who is struggling can find enormous encouragement when a retired pastor who has been there, done that, calls them and talks them through hard times.

I got a call out of the blue a year or more ago. I didn't know the retired minister, but somehow he called my number. It was a blessing! This would be something that many retirees would likely enjoy.
