Don't you feel that the world be a better place if we could just ensure that there is no more reporting that uses these words or pictures of the same?

Me, too!

While I too hope to never hear these words again, no, the world would be a dramatically worse place if we had a way to censor any speech or press related to them. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

NOT CENSOR, just wish the names didn't exist in print, and replaced by some sensible educational subject, Like the "LIttle RAscals' or the Cisco KId. Cool

It's censorship if some authority keeps them out of print, but if they just magically disappeared on their own, that would fulfill Cojak's "wish."
Like rubbing a genie lamp.

Well, granted, but since in reality the only way that will happen is if an authority makes it happen...

"Free speech" is a misnomer, if you take it too literally.

Slander someone. It won't be "free" much longer; they'll sue you.

I don't feel that pornographers should have "free speech," do you?

I'm good with censorship, so long as it is done with commonsense...and not with the idea that, "Hey, if we censor ANYTHING, we'll wind up censoring EVERTHING." Bull malarkey. (That's Greek for "bull malarkey.")

Yes. I share this dream with you. Well, except for the Duggars, they don't irritate me.

However, if the Kardashians and Jenners disappeared they would probably just be replaced by something worse. Shocked Shocked

OK forget the dictionary, I like the genie idea, good as any! Cool

Censorship has existed in the USA, I saw it enforced once by a DI using an M-1 butt, cause there was a lady present. Shocked Wink

Post Dave! You ALREADY believe in censorship! Don't be a hypocrite! Aaron Scott
It's almost politically-correct to act as if one resists all censorship. But what it is is BULL MALARKEY.

If you believe in NO CENSORSHIP at all, then just have someone claim you are a pedophile, a con man, or what have you, and so forth. I'm betting you take it to the law and sue. BUT EVEN THEN, you're reputation is likely toast.

Do you think a child pornographer should be permitted to place pictures on billboards? No? Then you believe in censorship.

"Free speech" has long been regulated. The whole "crying fire in a crowded theater" thing. You might not be able to stop people from saying it...but you can have recourse if they do.

There are some extremists who believe that absolutely everything should be allowed. I don't. And your smug remark about me being a history teacher doesn't change my mind. In fact, I'm afraid it makes me wonder just what sort of things you believe since surely you don't believe that EVERYTHING should be permitted.

Yes, I know it can and sometimes does go off the deep end. But do you ISIS recruitment efforts should be permitted in the U.S.? Should they be able to take out commercials?

Think about some things before you act like you really want free speech. We're all in love with the concept. But the reality is that evil uses it for its purposes too.

Are they American Citizens? Why do people think they've scored in an argument by trying to apply our bill of rights to foreigners, especially foreigners we're at war with? I laugh at people who claim I'm against "rights" when I say we don't have to allow everyone who wants to to just come in to our country. They spout things like "first amendment" and "free speech". What a joke. Surely this is not what you're teaching at school.
