In 2 Kings 4, the Shunamanite woman when faced with the death of her son, her promise from God if you will, when asked by her husband about the boy replied Shalom (it is well). When asked by Elisha's servant, Gehazi, as to the health of her son and if every thing was ok with her, replied, Shalom (it is well). FInally, Elisha returned and prayed for her dead son and he was resurrected. She saw her son risen before he was risen. Was she in denial? She never SPOKE her problem, she only spoke her faith. She believed in the GOd who calls those things that are not as though they were. She spoke Peace - shalom - it is well in the midst of the storm of her life.
Isaiah prophesied to us that in the midst of great darkness a light was coming to overcome that darkness. He would be called Miracle - Wonderful, Wisdom of the ages - Counselor, El Gibbor - the mighty warrior God, the Father of Eternity and he would be called Sar Shalom - the Prince of Peace. We, like the Shunamanite Woman, can have peac eand not fear, no matter what we may encounter if we will realize who is in us. Sar Shalom- the Prince of Peace. We don't have to walk in the darkness of fear but we can show the world the light - the Peace we have becasue He took the stripes that provided our Peace for us. We have an obligation to show the world that peace in the midst of the fear of death, cancer, terrorism wars etc. He is our peace. And our words testify of our heart and faith. We can be like the Shunamanite and speak our faith in God or we can speak our fear. I choose faith. If that makes me Word of Faith, so be it. I am filled with His Shalom. |
