NEW IS ONE OF GOD'S FAVORITE WORDS

AT THIS WRITING, one of America’s favorite TV Game Shows, is “Family Feud.” Contestant families try to guess what various surveys of 100 people have revealed. Each correct answer brings cheers from the audience.

As always, the hope of winning money gets an enthusiastic response, but nothing causes a louder roar than when Host Steve Harvey exclaims, “You just won a NEW CAR!” People leap for joy, dance around, act kind of crazy and hug each other like they haven’t seen each other for years. Most of us would too.

Imagine if Harvey had left off the word “NEW” and just said, “You have won a car.” There would still be some clapping but even that would dramatically decline if he said, “You have won an old car.”

“NEW” is one of our favorite words. Add “NEW” to almost anything and it seems to zoom up the enthusiasm for it; NEW car, house, couch, job, money, hope, NEW LOVE.

When someone would say of a young person’s NEW love experience, “It’s only Puppy Love,” Mom would gently say, “Puppy love is important to the Puppy. It is completely NEW to them.”

NEW LIFE IS THE HOPE OF FUTURE
It is interesting how we talk about having a “NEW baby.” Is there any other
kind? A NEW BABY life will set a family on fire with enthusiasm. Even old
folks who haven’t moved a muscle in months will get up for Baby Showers,
birthdays, send cards, make visits and laugh with joy like they did years ago.

SURPRISINGLY, “NEW” is also one of GODS FAVORITE WORDS.
The word “New” appears in the Bible (KJV) 136 times. “New Moon” appears
21 times, “New Wine” (26), “New Day” (15), “New Name” (6), “New Song” (6), and “New Testament” (6).

“NEW” is used the most in Isaiah (13 times), Ezekiel (Eight) and Revelation (Seven). Just the NEW in any of those three Books would be good fuel for a hot sermon or devotion.

THE FIRST THREE words in the Bible are about newness; “In the beginning…” Genesis tells of the first day, the first crops, the first man and woman. The first couple of chapters are crammed full of “NEW.”

THE LAST TIME “NEW” is used in the Bible:
“And He who sat upon the throne said, “Behold, I make ALL THINGS NEW
(Revelation 21:5) **Even near the end of “Revelation” God is still making plans for NEW things. "Eye has not seen nor ear heard..."

INTERESTING uses of “NEW” in the Bible.
Deuteronomy 24:5: What was not allowed in a NEW marriage?
Psalms: (A NEW Song) - 33:5, 40:3, 96:1, 98:1, 144:9, 149.1.
Proverbs 25:25: “Good NEWS is like water to a thirsty soul.”

Isaiah 43:19 (God Speaking): “I will do a NEW thing. I will make a way
in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 62: 7: NEW Name.
Isaiah 66:22: NEW heaven and NEW earth “so your seed and name shall remain.”

Jeremiah 26:10: NEW gate of the Lord’s House.
Jeremiah 31:31: “Behold, the days come, says the Lord, that I will make
a NEW covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

EVEN IN THE SADDEST BOOK OF THE BIBLE
Lamentations 3:28: “They are NEW every morning: GREAT is thy faithfulness.”

Ezekiel 11:19: NEW name promised.
Ezekiel 36:26: A NEW heart and a NEW spirit.
Ezekiel 47:12: NEW trees with NEW fruit & leaves for medicine...”

Joel 3:18: “And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains
shall drop down NEW wine… and a fountain shall come forth out of
the house of the Lord…”

NEW TESTAMENT
Matthew 9:17: NEW wine must go in NEW bottles, not old ones.
Matthew 26:28: “For this is my blood of the NEW Testament which is shed
for many for the remission of sins.”

Mark 1:27: NEW authority over unclean spirits.
Mark 16:17: NEW Tongues – “In my name they shall cast out devils; they
shall speak with NEW tongues…”

Luke 22:20: “This cup is the NEW Testament in my blood which was shed
for you.”

John 18:34 : ”A NEW Commandment that you love one another as I have loved you.”

Acts Chapters 1 & 2 – The NEW experience of a Spirit-filled life. Speaking In Tongues was a completely NEW experience and empowerment.

Romans 6:4: Walk in the NEWNESS of life.
Romans 7:6: Serve in the NEWNESS of spirit.

I Corinthians 11:25: “This cup is the NEW testament in my blood. As often as you drink it, do it in remembrance of me.”
II Corinthians 4:16: ”For which cause we faint not; but though our
outward man perish, yet the inward man is RENEWED day by day.

II Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a NEW creature:old things are passed away; Behold all things become NEW.”

Ephesians 4:24: “Put on the NEW man which God has created…”

Hebrews 10:20: “A NEW and living way.”

I Peter 3:2: “As NEWBORN babes, desire the milk of the Word…”

II Peter 3:13: “According to his promise, we look for a NEW heaven
and a NEW earth.”

I John 2:7: “I write no NEW commandment…”
I John 2:8: “Again, a NEW commandment I write unto you…”

Revelation 2:17: “A white stone with a NEW name written on it.”

In 1938, C. Austin Miles wrote the Gospel song “A New Name In Glory.”

I make ALL THINGS NEW…”
