He's preaching at ENC Campmeeting this Sunday night. Service begins at 6pm.

We are gonna have to stop calling these yearly meetings Campmeetings, LOL Very Few of us camp for the services.

I must say that Florida still has a great campground. We have stayed there several times. They also have a 'church' with regular services weekly for folks in the area and who are also really camping from up and down the East Coast.

As a rule CAMPmeetings have gone the way of the dinosaur. Wink

There were special folks at the NC campmeetings, one was 'Shouting Sam Jones.' Some folks you never forget. And them MEAN preachers who were Watchmen to keep us teens out of the cars. LOL Cool

My husband's grandmother attended the Snowd Branch Campmeeting (just down the road from us) in a wagon as a young girl when they actually would camp out for the week. Many have tried to modernize this campmeeting facility, but they still have sawdust on the ground in the open air tabernacle. Thank God they did finally get modernized bathrooms some years back. There were outhouses when I was a kid.

I haven't been to Charlotte Campmeeting in many years but I think I remember Shoutin' Sam. He was pretty well known. And it's not in Charlotte anymore...

I haven't even been to the one in Kenly that I'm going to on Sunday in a long, long time. They keep changing the service times earlier and earlier and working folks just can't do it. Plus, it's usually online as well.

Jason Crabb will be there on Wednesday night. He brought the house down the last time he was there. Well, not him, but the Spirit was definitely moving. David Blair, who is now with the Lord, was the speaker that night...didn't preach but the Spirit was really touching the young people on that Youth Night.

If I can remember, I'll post a link to the services.

Well the first night of camp meeting was a huge success! A packed house and some very good worship set the tone for a great message from brother Hill. He preached from Daniel 3 and I really appreciated the different approach he took with what to most of us is a familiar story.

I would love to know how that man has been able to have such great tone in his singing voice after so many years of preaching hour long sermons. Incredible.

Those in attendance really enjoyed the simple act of being together again, and for me personally I hadn't realized how much I needed to be able to receive instead of give. The other day I was looking at my journal from last year and I couldn't believe all of the ministry I had been involved with, plus all the extra work due to the pandemic. It was refreshing to be a sponge for one night.

Post Our favorite "shouter" in Florida was... Aaron Scott
Ol' Bro. Shaw.

In fact, if I recall correctly, the Singing Morris Family even wrote a song about him.

It was common to see this older man running back and to across the front of the tabernacle, all while waving his white handkerchief.

I recall one time they called him up to the pulpit to testify, but he got so happy that he started shouting and crying again--and the place rejoiced!
