As a kid I loved Camp Meetings. It had nothing to do with Great teaching or preaching. NC Camp Meeting was always over the 4th. Preachers and mill workers alike took that time as a vacation and the vacation was Camp Meeting.
Kids, and especially preacher's kids, had a chance to visit. and just walk around and talk.
At the campgound there was a creek. WE caught frogs, waded and swam. Those memories were embedded deep. WE could talk to others of the same faith and church and not feel 'condemned for being Holy Roller kids!'
My wife was a mill worker's daughter. She was there and I never saw her back then, but she remembers the same as I.
Anyway that was a time past. We may catch the services on the net, but will not attend.
After I got older I still loved the fellowship but enjoyed the words of teachers like 'Charles Conn' and Nite speakers like Wade Horton.
I miss the shavings and saw dust on the ground under the tent or tabernacle. LOL
And yes, Carolyn I remember attending Snowed Branch when Bro Moody pastored there.

Smile

I really enjoyed Campmeeting on Sunday night. Bishop Tim Hill preached like his coattails were on fire. It was really good. I saw a lot of people I haven't seen in forever. Most of the ministers we are contemporaries with have retired but are still around.

I got to see Ronald Martin who is the World Missions Rep for ENC. He taught me Declaration of Faith at NC Bible Institute when I was a teenager - over 40 years ago! I spoke to him and he said he was glad I did. (He was very kind. I'm sure he doesn't remember me! LOL)

I attended Charlotte Campmeeting as a teenager, also went to their Youth Camps and summer Bible school. What a blessing that was in my life! It's sad the Charlotte Campgrounds aren't around anymore. It was a special and sacred place.

Mississippi Campmeeting was excellent all the way around as well. I was there for two days. Tim Hill preached and excellent sermon. George Moxley was hilarious and the altar service was powerful. I enjoyed the preaching of James McIntyre and the morning leadership sessions by David Smith was really incredible. I came home inspired and challenged. One of the best camp meetings that I have been to in a long time. I heard many others say the same thing. Friendly Face

Bishop McIntyre's church is less than 5 miles from where I live. He is our district pastor. I'm sure it was great!
