The Old Testament God. |
bradfreeman |
Don't let a veiled old testament view of God keep you from faith.
Until Jesus came, no one had seen God "at any time"...no one.
"No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him." John 1:18
Jesus came to show us who God really is. He explained Him.
"If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.” John 14:7
From now on you know Him and have seen Him. _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!

Good stuff here Brad.
I am meeting folk now, young folk, who are being presented with 2 Gods. The OT one is compared to the Muslim God, one of revenge and wrath, seeing Jesus as a contradiction, 'I though God did not change?'
Without a good background of teaching (and faith) the youth of this world become honestly confused. _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

He's the same God. We see the "wrath of the Lamb" in Revelation. _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

Apparently, his heresy did die with him...
The OT is not evil. It's good. You just can't see God in it. What you see is the consequence of the Tree of Death in the Ministry of Death and the Ministry of Condemnation, the Law. It hid God in thick darkness and gloom, so that we could not see Him. Jesus, who was not sent to condemn but to give abundant life, identified that ministry, all that came before Him, as a thief that kills. (John 10:9,10)
Deut. 4:11 You came near and stood at the foot of the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire to the very heart of the heavens: darkness, cloud and thick gloom. 12 Then the Lord spoke to you from the midst of the fire; you heard the sound of words, but you saw no form—only a voice.
Exo. 33:23 Then I will take My hand away and you shall see My back, but My face shall not be seen.”
Heb. 12:18 For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind, 19 and to the blast of a trumpet and the sound of words which sound was such that those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them. 20 For they could not bear the command, “If even a beast touches the mountain, it will be stoned.” 21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, “I am full of fear and trembling.”
2 Cor. 3:15 But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart; 16 but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
2 Cor. 4:6 For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!

"For I proclaim the name of the Lord; ascribe greatness to our God! The Rock! His work is perfect, for all His ways are just; a God of faithfulness and without injustice, righteous and upright is He." - Deuteronomy 32:3-4
"I shall remember the deeds of the Lord; surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will meditate on all Your work and muse on Your deeds. Your way O God is holy; what god is like our God? You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples. You have by Your power redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph." - Psalm 76:11-15
"The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives inquiry, transgression and sin..." - Exodus 34:6
Moses and the Psalmist may have not had a full revelation but they did have a pretty good glimpse into the nature of God. _________________ The Hammer
