Update.....He is going about his business as if nothing happened. He will not go to the hospital. He admitted tonight that he has been having spells with stroke like symptoms for some time and chose to keep it from us. His doctor says it is from episodes of abnormal heart beat. He is stubborn and I refuse to let it stress me. At 83 he can make his own decisions.

He is 83 but looks and acts more like 73. Very strong and alert. No vices. Not very frail. Just published a book.

He let out a yell, was waving his hand in front of his mouth and breathing like had eaten something hot. He looked disoriented, eyes darting around. My sister grabbed him and asked him what was wrong. He started saying, "It's a guilty spot." repeating that phrase. He then starting speaking gibberish. A few minutes later he was fine.

I appreciate the prayers.

Sounds like a good man, part of the reason you're proud of him is why he is being that way (stubborn), just be there for him and pray for him. If it gets worse I pray someone is near and can get him help immediately. Praying that God will give him a little "flexibility" where he needs it.

Praise God he's doing better. That sounds like answered prayer to me. I just read the OP today.

Thanks to all of you.

Longevity is a trait on both sides of my family. My dad's dad died at 92 back in 1989. I'm not sure though that my dad will make it to that age. He absolutely does not want to be an invalid or go to a nursing home. Thus far that has not even been a concern. However, in light of these spells he is having , I think it is time to take the car keys. That will mean war.
