How does the Church of God treat a pastor who confesses to a struggle with alcohol, drugs, or even sex? And would there be a difference in the three situations I have mentioned?

How do they treat a Pastor who is blameless?

If Dallas Church of God is any example, not very well.

I can answer that and the answer is it all depends. If you or your family has a history in the cog you will be afforded opportunities and 2nd or 3rd chances that others who are newer to the cog will not even when you have proven yourself 1000% innocent.
Consistency? I think not.

YES, sadly I agree, however, that is true in ALL organizations. I found that in most areas of my life. Local stores to politics and even in a small way in the military. It is ACTUALLY A NORMAL thing, and hard not to practice, I guess. Wink Wink

What I read. He would guzzle a large beer to take the edge off. Doesn't sound like he was drunk or drank multiple beers.

Christians take meds all the time due to stress which is more controlled by a doctor as opposed to a beer. Sounds very similar. However, not a wise decision.

That said, we have fought for years here as to whether alcohol is a sin. Not a wise decision on his part but then again, it did not go into drunkedness.

I guess I am kind of seeing a nothing burger here.
