Post Another Soldier Has Gone Home Carolyn Smith
Saw on Facebook today that Bro. Ken Hensley passed away this weekend due to COVID. He apparently had lung issues in the past. It's reported that his wife Priscilla is sick with COVID also. Sad Sad

Bro. Hensley counseled me after a bad wreck I was in many years ago. He was such a blessing in my life then. Of course, I remember him as a teenager leading campmeeting choirs/music at Summer Bible Institute in NC. I took piano from Sis. Hensley one semester. I can still play that song from the convention book, though not as well as I once did!

We have lost so many ministers to COVID. Sad

Lady THANKS, I sure hate to hear that. I was his pastor for a couple years. He & I mixed all the mortar by hand and actually laid block directly on the NC red dirt for a fellowship hall and SS rooms. Neither of us had ever laid a block in our lives! We built the building and he was a great help. WE were running 20-25 in church and he sang his heart out. Ken was a professional singer and of course Priscilla was the BEST on a piano.
This is a shocker.

Again thanks so very much Carolyn.
PS: That building with NO foundation is still standing. WE did not get a permit either. There is a great story when I went to have the power turned on. When asked our permit number I asked WHAT?
Inspector says "Let me get this straight, you have built a commercial building, wired and plumbed and have had no inspections?
"Yes sir, I guess I have." Great story though.

Ken will be missed I am very sure.

I hated to hear this, too. Such a special couple! I was sure you knew them too, if no one else here did. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. So sad!

Cool story about the building.

They gave a lot to the music ministry in WNC. Do you have an obituary link or the name of the town where he lived? Acts-celerater

I haven't heard about any arrangements yet. I think they live on the SC COG Campgrounds. Used to be Mauldin SC, but it seems like someone said Simpsonville.

I spent a month on that campground when I was 18, attending their Summer Bible Institute because WNC was rebuilding the tabernacle. A handful of us went to SC that year. Great memories. Virginia & David Horton were the music directors that summer.

Just read a post that says there is not going to be a funeral. Still no word on an obituary.

But so far no word concerning obit. Crying or Very sad
