Post Why TRUMP may make a SURPRISE choice for Supreme Court vacancy. doyle
Personally, I think Amy Barrett would be a tremendous choice. I hope he chooses her. However...

Dems are all geared up for war against her to slow down the process by attacking her. In particular, my prediction is that they have secretly recorded, or have previously obtained, video of the Catholic Charismatic worship services where she has worshiped for a long time.

God bless her. Praise God for a Judge who is strong in her faith. But we know how videos can be twisted, how things that are normal to us in worship, can be made to look wild and crazy. Not a betting man, but wait for it.

Some Republicans who have never experienced Charismatic worship, and those who are in close races for re-election, ....hmm. Not a courageous group in the first place. All the Dems have to do is scare off a few to stall the process.

THERE MAY BE an even bigger reason for Trump to make a surprise choice. The female Judge from Florida who is also on the President's list, would be an interesting choice. Her father escaped from Cuba and Communism. She may be a strong advocate AGAINST socialism which opens the door to Communism.

As you may have noticed, there is a major push towards Socialism at this time in America. Sadly, polls are showing that younger adults (who are used to having everything provided for them) in particular, are strongly leaning toward Socialism.

The Pres MUST WIN Florida. Choosing the Florida Judge may increase Trump's strength in the state and have an even greater impact from the massive Cuban community there. Such a surprise announcement could throw the Dems into confusion since they expect a Barrett appointment.

Choosing the Florida Judge instead of facing a war to choose Barrett, could help some wimpy Repubs stay with him and put a strong presence on the Court against Communism. That could strengthen the stand we must continue to make against China.

PLUS, a conservative Judge from the Cuban community could dilute the influence of liberal Hispanic Justice Sotomayor.

That's my opinion. WHACHATHINK?

Doyle

With a woman judge, it is going to be hard to portray them as rapists or even accuse them of sexual harassment, so at least chances are slim we will have to see that. Acts-perienced Poster

Respectfully, Doyle, this is not what polls show. According to a poll in Feb 2020, ". . .50% of Gen Z and millennial respondents (ages 18 to 38) had an unfavorable view of [socialism], as opposed to just 38% who had a favorable one." Further, ". . .Gallup research shows that Americans' definition of socialism has changed over the years, with nearly one in four now associating the concept with social equality and 17% associating it with the more classical definition of having some degree of government control over the means of production." This means that more Americans understand socialism to mean something about social equality rather than having everything provided for you.

No, with women the attack is always against their womanhood (you ain't a woman if you don't love infanticide and sex with anything that moves), and if you're religious, well you're part of that Handmaid's Tale movie and an evil tool of white men.

Well, he didn't do it. He chose Barrett. I was thinking it would have been quite a stunt to have her buy him in the Rose Garden then name someone else. I thought she gave a good speech, btw, though she may have been a bit too self depricating about trying to manage that large family and her job.

She might be questioned on whether she can handle being a mom and a SCOTUS justice. My guess is the work load would probably be just as heavy if not more for the lower level federal judges, who don't have 9 other justices to rely on for opinions. They may all have their clerks do a lot of that writing. She may have already written parts of opinions for the SCOTUS so far.

She talked about recusing herself on the death penalty because of the pope's views. I hope she doesn't do that for abortion. I hope the court gets rid of abortion and gay marriage and makes it clear that sex descriminaton in old laws has nothing to do with transexuals and 'orientation.' It would be nice if the rioting and protests died down first so we don't see more violence on the streets. If Trump gets reelected, maybe he can bring Antifa and those who fund them up on racketeering charges and clean up some of the violent elements that way-- getting the violent young white girls and boys with spray paint cans out of the BLM protests.
