Post Church not growing? Consider TITHING your faithful attenders. doyle
We continuously emphasis that tithing brings INCREASE of income.

Would that also work if pastors began tithing their faithful attenders? I know a pastor who did that and his church grew beyond those he had tithed to starting a new church and helping several struggling congregations.

Don't have time at this moment to go into detail but will get back with you tomorrow to share what he did,

Doyle

I am not sure if the older preachers thought of it as tithing, but I remember in the 40-50s era when a church became more than one pastor could handle within reason, new churches were birthed. I believe at every church my dad pastored at least one church was born, and not out of discord.

Yes I want to hear more...
Cool

If you tithe wheat or cash, it doesn't complain. What if 'your' faithful member does not want to be put in the offering plate....or drive another 30 miles to church and not get to see the brothers and sisters he/she has grown close to?

Reminds me of the joke about 3 local preachers bragging about the results of their recent revivals.

Pastor #1 - Praise God, after our revival we gained 4 new members.
Pastor #2 - Praise God, after revival we gained 6 new members
Pastor #3 - Praise God, after revival 10 of our biggest troublemakers moved their membership.

Are you suggesting that pastors on the receiving end of these tithes might have a Malachi 1:8 moment? Laughing

I'm looking forward to hearing the story.

I don't guess it was like a draft, but at our church the men of the church voted to open a church in an area where folks were driving 5-15 miles to church. It was agreed upon to ask publicly who would like to transfer their membership for a year, stay then if they liked or return to the mother church.

The overseer agreed to ask the larger church pastors in the area if they would like to offer members the opportunity to get in on the opening. some did. The churches created are doing well.... Cool

How exactly does a pastor tithe his members? Does a pastor have enough control over people that they can tell them to leave relationships and commitment, against their will, and go to another church? Seems a littl presumptuous to me. Friendly Face

The approach would also seem to lend itself to the "give to get" mentality that most ministers thankfully now discourage in regard to tithes and offerings.
