Are we talking "store-bought"?
A woman I knew in Tennessee made the best I ever had.
But in a store? A little grocery store/deli on Chouteau Blvd in Saint Louis. Those folks made the best soul food you ever set your mouth to, and that lady could fry chicken that would make you slap your mammy!

There was an older guy in my first church that used to invite me over for lunch. Best fried chicken I've ever eaten. Just salt, pepper, and a black iron skillet.

Other than that, Sis. Sharon Schweer can make fried chicken that makes your mouth water just to smell it cook'n. Every time I can scarf down 3-4 good pieces.

For quick chicken I prefer Bojangles, BUT my mama gave her recipe to my wife and the people who eat it say she could have her own chain. hahahaha
BUT I do love chicken fried. Today I pressure cook it with rice.... Mama says it is best, I think it is because I am doing the cooking. hahaha.
I am paying attention to the answers and want to try one or two of them. Probably start with Myrtle Beach iffn the storm leaves it there.

I am not sure we will 'run around' the USA again, but if we do I have copied the names and cities down. and would like to try some of them. As a PK you know I ate some chicken and mama's was the best!
I was trained well, Sunday was Chicken, mostly fired.
Who said Acts was gone down hill, fried chicken it up hill.

Now, Cojak, I don't know if this is really what you NEED, but I know that my siblings are having to contemplate setting up a chauffeuring system for my Mom and Dad. They would never ask, and yet my dad would humbly accept it if we told him to please not drive any more (for safety reasons).
What you MIGHT need--if you want to keep on the road, say--is a chauffeur/caddy/butler/assistant/etc. Hear me out (and if not you, then maybe someone reading).
It could a single person or a couple. They are young enough to deal with the strains of the road, etc. They would load/unload your luggage (assuming you were staying in rooms), take care of fueling and minor repairs, going in and out of the store to get you a drink, etc.
In return? They get to travel the nation in your vehicle/gas (and any other accommodations you might be offering). You might cover a percentage of their lodging and food. Or just give them a flat-fee X dollars per day, etc.
You get the idea. When I retire, I would count it a privilege to travel with y'all! HA! |

Sounds like a plan, I know you guys had a great time cross country and we have done the some with our boys. To be honest they are much more fun to travel with now than when they were in their teens. LOL
PS Would love to travel with you guys.
Now to the OP
We need to visit Cleveland and a couple widows there and Chattanooga isn't that far! I do love fried chicken!

Brandon beat me to posting about Buckner's. I have eaten at Bea's a few times. I like it ok. But Buckner's has it beat, in my opinion. When I pastored at Griffin, I took a lot of guess there. They have the best fried chicken ever and I've eaten it at a lot of places. Exit 201 on I-75 in Georgia. |
