Post Let the old judge step down from the bench for a minute Judge Roy Bean
How easy would it be for you to take your church independent? Of course you'd have to get new credentials and organize your own nonprofit. That is really not that difficult any more.
But allow this barrister ask some real questions.

Would your church go along with it?

Could you survive without a state office?

What would be your personal adjustments?

What type of church would it be if you were writing the government?

Would your church grow better apart from the denomination?

If I may add to His Honor's line of questioning...

What, if anything, would you do to ensure you were accountable?

Would you create/allow a mechanism for your own removal?

You would just call the ol Sheepdog.

As many have in the last 30 years.

You would begin with the passage of a Constitution and by-laws.

And yes provision is made to remove the Senior Pastor as well as the other officers if it becomes necessary.

In 1989 we left the oversight of Cleveland and have not looked back.

Everything we left has been restored to us.

Fellowship, Foreign Mission support, the BEST preachers in the Pentecostal movement, Youth Camp, (Senior Camp is in session this week) plus a paid for campus.

Three buildings on 8 3/4 acres nestled in the beautiful North Georgia mountains.

We license and ordain ministers just like the big boys do.

We handle our business in house.

Only members of the Church Conference are allowed at Conference meetings. No one outside of the Stewards (Conference members) decide and no other person or group imposes their will upon us.

Been working for us since 1989. Very Happy

It doesn't surprise me at all that your church is structured like this, but I think it deserves commendation anyway. Good stuff.

I can understand why the Big Bad MOG would not want an avenue that allowed his removal if, God forbid, he became a danger to himself or the flock. I can't understand why a humble shepherd wouldn't want this as a necessary part of guarding both himself and the flock.
