It is a four-season state. At the same time, living in Florida, I don't think of the summer months in Tennessee as being nearly so bad.
At the same time--especially in southeastern Tennessee, there is the coolness of the mountains, which moderates things a bit. But best of all, there are ice cold mountain creeks--and there are no alligators or sharks!
It can get cold in the winter, but it seldom gets below the teens for the low (and usually no more than the mid-20s--I'm speaking of the Cleveland area). And while cold snaps can hit, a winter day can be expected to get into the 40s and 50s, if not a bit higher.
If I was going to choose to live anywhere in the south, it would be SE Tennessee. I rafted many years on the Ocoee, which is another great thing about SE Tennessee. Further, the Appalachians are gorgeous, and you can see them from within Bradley County, and actually get to them about five minutes after leaving Bradley County. |
