Since about 10th grade, I've tried to read at least one chapter a day. But often I get caught up in the story or theme and continue on and on.
And sometimes, rather than read more than one chapter, my reading "devolves" into a Bible search for this verse or that verse that are in support of something I read originally. I have little notes written in the margins, etc., to remind me of some thought I had, or to link to some other verse that is attached in some way.
In a nutshell, I think we heed to have a DISCIPLINE of reading the Bible (to serve as a bare minimum), but also a DEVOTION to reading the Bible that allows us to extract spiritual truth and insight as we study and delve in to the Word. |
