Most of our churches.... |

Have no idea how to go about a pastoral search or how to read resumes. We've created churches that are addicted to a system. They might get the idea, "My grandson wants to be a preacher. Let him do it." _________________ Doctor of Bovinamodulation |

I am speaking from experience. I use to attend a very large church in Tampa Fl (RH).
If the council would have been allowed to read through all the resumes and/or be able to search (take a group like other denominations) and observe someone in a normal service things might have worked out differently many years ago.
Unfortunately, most of the churches that are average to large size congregations are held captive by the state bishops to only allow certain people apply or be seen.
The state offices have pretty much control on who gets an interview and most of those people are in on the know of what churches are available. Not every church is listed so they can keep everyone from applying.
RH has gone through almost a 15year cycle of exactly what is being discussed here and it hasn't been good.
This is definitely an area that the COG is known for and not in a good way. This is the one thing that should be changed who knows what could have been with that once great church if things would have been handled differently. |
