Shucks, and I was just told by e-mail it was best friends day.. I could have found a piece of pie easier!! Cool Smile Smile

BUT what is your favorite pie? In order:

Pecan
Key Lime/lemon with graham cracker crust
Sweet tater pie

If I am allowed to have Ice Cream on it I prefer Apple!

Had the same reaction when I saw this thread. I thought, "There's no way it's already March, right?"

I will take mine apple, cherry or peach but they must be home made and fried... that's right I said, fried!! Would also like a scoop of home made ice cream. If I am going down may as well go WAY down! Golf Cart Mafia Consigliere

Hey DK, My mama made at least a million fried apple pies (plus peach etc) selling them for the LWWB.

I sold and eat my share, some of the best made was by the ladies of the Biloxi COG.

Thanks for kicking in some memories with the 'fried' word. Cool Smile

At the last church I pastored was the last member I buried who was a precious saint of the era you speak. She was one of the best Cooks around. She cooked the best fried pies I have ever eaten. She told stories about how her and other ladies of the church pretty much paid the bills cooking food and selling it for the church.

I remember the lady willing workers at Glory Hill Church of God would sell hamburgers and chicken and dressing plates at the king Edward cigar plant in the early 1970s. Man those hamburgers we're good! Sister Johnson would put filler in the hamburger meat to "make it go further" and they would fry them on a big gas grill. Still remember those greasy brown sacks of burgers😀😉

Smiling at DK's memories. My mama was always leader of the LWWB where dad pastored. His aim was always to get the church out of debt, and that always happened, 'With mama's help baking cooking and selling for the church!"
I loved mama's fried pies. ...
Good ole' pie day! Now it is gone! Shocked
