Post Remember old church Christmas plays? roughridercog
The old dusty manger made by someone's grandpa years ago, wearing dish towels with crochet hoops on your head, cardboard wings and a halo made of tin foil and a hanger, and a doll playing baby Jesus?

I surely do. Looking back on those days when we didn't have much in the way of fancy, store bought things, there was a sense of innocence and humbleness that seems to have been lost.
At least, I don't get the same feeling watching today's major production. We had to dress up the small children as sheeple, today's church rents camels!

Most of those plays had a meaningful point - like todays Hallmark movies.

I was in some good ones.

There always seemed to by problems in getting it ready, the props and the practices, but on THE NIGHT, it usually went off without a hitch. I loved the 'play nights'. Cool

Post In very old churches... roughridercog
You can still see the eyelets on the platform for the wire the makeshift sheet curtains hung from. I've been in a few where they just left the wire up all year. Laughing

Yeah, we had a wire with curtains.

I guess that was like today's dark lights, smoke, and lasers.

But we only did it once a year. Twisted Evil

1959, Biloxi Church of God, I once had a solo of the third verse of We Three Kings. I sang loudly, "Myrrh Is Mine, and my mind went blank, I finished the entire verse standing there singing Da da da dada, Dum de dum da da da da da!" I received Christmas cards for year from my FRIENDS, "Merry Christmas da da da." True..... OUCH Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

That one got enough laughs to be a comedy Adam! Wink

Did someone bring a donkey or a horse into the church building?

Way back when, rich people had cars and poorer people had horses. Nowadays, the rich people have horses.
