While it’s a nice gesture, even if passed, it would be unlikely to ever be feasible for the vast majority of CoG pastors, most of whom work secular jobs just to make ends meet. It will be a nice thing for pastors of larger churches, to be sure. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

Post Isa 58:12
There are no more Sabbaticals, that's in the Law of Moshe, the Torah that you all say Messiah fulfilled. This is like wanting to have your cake and eat it too 😉

It's either all gone, or it's not gone 😱😉

Most people earn vacation time and could take at least some of the time off from work. From what I read on FB, the church is supposed to recompense the pastor for his full salary during the 30 days...which is good as long as he's GETTING a salary!

It's a great resolution. Perhaps not always practical, but it would give pastors that "light at the end of the tunnel" and perhaps keep some from leaving the ministry entirely. 30 days off with no pastoral duties might help if it's a "staycation."

Post What? roughridercog
I thought camp meeting, General Assembly, and working youth camp qualifies as a sabbatical.

Any conversation about the necessity of observing the weekly Sabbath for New Testament believers should be taken to a new thread. It is not an on-topic discussion in this thread. Thanks. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

I think that used to be the general feeling. I believe my dad thought so. But I believe if he had taken a sabbatical instead of retiring, he may have lived longer. After about 4 weeks of retirement he was LOST in a world without a church to over see. He did not plan retirement very well. Embarassed
