I really wish you would not ask hard questions!!!

But in answer to the OP, I sure wish I knew. Logic tells me that God would protect the pastor and take the life of someone being baptized who is really a sinner.

I really think these questions are IMPORTANT and should be answered

I’m thinking wading into a body of water inhabited by crocodiles is a bad idea on any day, no matter how pure and godly one’s intentions might be, no matter if one is performing a baptism. God never guaranteed us protection from danger when we do unwise things that expose us to harm. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

I would be more prone to blame the devil than God if there is any blaming to be done.

I think Quiet Wyatt speaks truth. Some things just shouldn't be done.

Sometimes I have wondered if I had a lot of faith to do something or if I was just really stupid. Shocked Laughing

Kinda like tempting the Lord in a way. Surely the pastor knew that crocodiles were known to be in the area, and that alone should mandate a wiser choice of locations. If a pastor jumped off a bridge because he believed God would somehow save him and yet he died as a result of the jump, would that be God’s fault? Should we seriously expect God to save us from own willful, careless actions?

Post Guess what a Calvinist would say... FG Minister
John Piper would say that God "rendered certain" that the pastor would be in the water that day and "rendered certain" that the croc would get him. He also "rendered certain" that 80 people would be there to watch the event and made sure their faith in God was shattered. Ain't Calvinism grand? Acts-celerater

I'd usually laugh, but Calvinism is becoming a problem in my town.

Hey you know it’s all for God’s glory regardless, if total predeterminism is true. [Insert Acts Pun Here]
