Post Something for Bonnie Carolyn Smith
I think it would be wonderful if we as a community of faith (of sorts) could do something to remember Bonnie. Whether it's sending a flower together or a monetary gift for the family or Caleb...that would be a wonderful way to remember her and honor her participation here.

One of our members (Jeremiah2911) lives pretty close to her. If we decide to do flowers, he can arrange it with the florist but wants someone else to handle the $ part.

I'm not sure the best way to handle this. Suggestions? Maybe one of you pastors could do this through your church to make it easier?

I'll e-mail Doyle for permission unless one of the administrators could approve this.

Note: Unless things changed in the last few weeks, Bonnie was pay as you go patient. She did not carry insurance. I mention this only because I am dealing with my sisters bills at present and she carried no insurance. It can be tough. If some pastor on here has a 'donate' button on their web site I would like to start donations, LOVE offerings in behalf of the family.

I haven't checked her home church to see if they have a web site, that would be great. Or a church close by!

The church website for where Bonnie's funeral will be is as follows:

http://nhwcbunn.com/

There is a donate button there. I think that would be a great way to reach out to her family unless there are other suggestions.

I cannot converse on the phone, but I think it would be a great idea, if someone would call and set up something that would direct the gifts to the family. If we can get a consensus or what ever it would take to start the ball rolling.

Also there appears to be 2 New Hope Worship centers in town. The other must not be COG.

The one with the website listed is the same address for the memorial.

I wouldn't mind calling the pastor but would like to hear from more people here if you'd like to be involved in something like that.

I agree Carolyn. However if in the next day I hear nothing, I will e-mail the pastor and send a gift. I was going to send a card and a gift in lieu of flowers anyway. This is going to be a hurting family mentally and financially. Our gifts will probably never breach the gap, but will show someone KNEW this ONE, and she was appreciated. It is not the amounts as much as knowing she made an impression outside her community! I hope more on Acts will be touched by this 'sudden death.' It was about 20 days ago she told us she had an aggressibe cancer, WOW was it aggressive.
Her son was kind enough to come on to inform us. That shows she talked Acts at home.
Anyway, about the fast aggressive cancer. O believe this is the fastest I remember ! Crying or Very sad

Caleb didn't post a lot about his mom, but it appears she's been sick a while. It looks like they just nailed down exactly what it was about 4-6 weeks ago.

He also posted the following about a month ago:
"Don’t you love it when the Holy Spirit shows up in the hospital room and you have more church than you ever had in “church”?
So my mom starts walking around and praying in tongues and my aunt starts prophesying. It’s been a very good day in the middle of bad looking circumstances."

I think that's how I'd like to remember Bonnie.

Thanks for that comment Carolyn.

I went ahead and sent a message to Bro Joe Ferguson, pastor, to see If I could make a cash donation to the family in lieu of Flowers. I am awaiting his answer.

I do appreciate your attention concerning this CArolyn, at a time like this something extra financial is a blessing. A Hospital takes $$ out of the family above the medical expense.

Of course most everyone knows this, most everyone is familiar with death and hospitals now. Crying or Very sad

Oh this saddens me so much. Bonnie was one of the greats on this forum. I'm sad for us and for her family, but I am thankful for some great memories she leaves me with, and that I look forward to a day when we can meet her face to face. God bless her family and loved ones. Golf Cart Mafia Capo Famiglia

I just received this e-mail from New Hope:

Good morning

That would be wonderful and I know they would appreciate it. In the description area just put Knox's Family and we will make sure the funds get to the family.
God Bless
Rhonda

I need to make sure the address is right for donations: I will click on this and make sure it is correct once I submit:

http://nhwcbunn.com/donation/

Hoping for a good showing from Acts members.

Okay the address works. I put Knox family in 'Description' under Credit card info.

Wishing Roger and Caleb peace and God's comfort during this time.

One of our members has generously offered to pay for a flower/floral arrangement from the Acts family for Bonnie's memorial service on 6/9.

If anyone else would like to contribute somehow, we suggest you make a donation to her church in the Knox Family name to help with expenses. That link is as follows:

http://nhwcbunn.com/donation/

Thoughts & prayers for Caleb & family continue.

Post Obit for Bonnie (L) Carolyn Smith
I found this online. I know the information about the funeral is different, but that was the info Caleb, her son, gave us. I guess maybe there is more than one memorial?

I have seen this picture online, so this is the right person. I'll try to check with Caleb about the different information.

https://secure.funeralwebhosting.com/mbh/notices/Bonnie-Knox

Bonnie Goforth Knox of Louisburg, North Carolina went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2018 following a brief and intense illness from adrenal cancer.

Mrs. Knox was born January 3, 1964 in Montgomery County to Grady Goforth and Alvis Poole Goforth. She graduated from East Montgomery High School and attended North Carolina State University before marrying. She was a homemaker and loving mother who enjoyed the beauty of nature.

She is survived by her husband, Roger and son, Caleb of the home. Also left to cherish her memory are her parents, brother David (Rene), sister Bonita (Gray), brother Dale (Renita), sister Belinda (Bill) and many nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held by the family at Holly Mount Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead on Saturday, June 2 at 2:00 in the afternoon.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle., Raleigh NC 27607.

Bonnie's early life was spent in the Baptist Church. But I am sure some family roots are there and they plan a memorial. The family was active in their local Church of God. Unless told different I am going by Caleb's note of the Jun 9th service. It is a 200 mile trip from here, but we are trying to clear the runway to drive down. We are presently doing the care-giving to my sister who is suffering from dementia.

Thanks Carolyn for posting the obit.

Bonnie did love nature, it was obvious in her blog, 'Organic Discourse/' Smile
