This is an excellent exegetical breakdown of this type of "teaching".

Glad you liked it. Rosebrough is an LCMS guy and a cessationist, so I don't agree with him about everything, but I do appreciate his ministry in this area. I've listened to him quite a bit and he does welcome orthodox Pentecostals as brothers in the faith, even though he personally disagrees with continuationism and the Pentecostal distinctives.
I wish "our side" had more folks like him holding down orthodoxy. It's a shame to me that we need an LCMS guy to do this kind of stuff. That's not wholly fair, because there are guys like Sam Storms, Gordon Fee, and others who call this stuff out while still affirming and proclaiming Pentecostal and charismatic views. I just wish there were a lot more of them. |
