Post My weekend as a Pastor, lol Pastor Nations
Saturday Evening

Up past midnight trying to figure out what to preach

Make a commitment to start earlier on my sermon next week

Sunday Morning

Preach my lungs out and even sweat through my suit

Pray for people in the altars after the sermon

Sunday afternoon

Pizza, ice cream and afternoon nap

Monday Morning

Forgot my commitment to start my sermon earlier this week

I plan my preaching way in advance. To some, it seems highly unspiritual. But I feel like the same God who created the world and had a plan for redemption before the foundation of the world, can use me even if I prepare in advance.

Sorry, I’m not taking a shot at you. I’ve been there. At the midnight hour, wondering what I was going to preach. Next month I will attempt my preaching calendar for 2018. Not only does it help me to be prepared, but it also helps our music director to select songs that might be a great complement to the message. It works for me/us.

But I am all in favor of pizza, ice cream, and afternoon naps ! Laughing

Thanks, it has been so long I have forgotten. Now I can smile at Bro Nations and DaSheik. I think I remember getting two weeks ahead (once!) Embarassed

But now it is nice to sit in the pew and TRY to listen to the ministers who I know have worked, studied and prayed for what I need. Lately I have been able to hear and follow along, last Sun AM we had a local lay preacher, I could not understand a word of the sermon (but it seemed the congregation was involved), I did get to read Jeremiah though.

Most of us in the pew truly appreciate the time and effort our pastor puts into the Word. (it probably doesn't seem so at times I know, with one deaf guy reading instead of trying to read lips.) Embarassed

(PS: it is hard to read lips when the speaker has a full beard!) Shocked

I am learning that the Holy Spirit can work spontaneously in the moment, and He can work spontaneously weeks in advance. His work is no less spontaneous and no less supernatural when it occurs during preparation.

My intent was a little self-deprecating humor.

I did not know I was opening myself up to cheap shots
