If you were responsible for choosing the topics to be addressed by the Doctrine and Polity Committee, what would you choose? [Insert Acts Pun Here]

A clear statement on OSAS and some room for those who cannot support Initial Evidence since the Bible doesn’t support it either. One more. It’s OK to say that the COG doesn’t allow alcohol but you cannot say that Christians must not. It’s not for a group of COG men to decide what other Christians believe. Friendly Face

Position papers are nice I suppose, but since they don’t constitute an official change in the DoF, Doctrinal Commitments, or Practical Commitments, they really don’t change anything. If a credentialed CoG minister says he doesn’t agree with the position paper, there really is nothing that can be done to him, so long as he continues to affirm official CoG doctrine as set forth in the DoF and Doctrinal and Practical Commitments. I’m really not interested in reading any COG position papers. Anything written is going to be consistent with what has always been the status quo in the COG. Lots of biased prooftext arguments. A paper on tithing is going to start with Melchizedek and go farther off course from there. “But tithing predates the law”, one might argue. So does marrying your sister. Acts Enthusiast

OUCH! Smile

But what you said in the beginning in my opinion is factual.

As a member I look at these 'position papers' as 'justification or solidifying' something the general Church upholds. NO ONE in authority (In his right mind) would put forth in our church that tithing 10% is not in fact ordered. I have always wondered if we were so sure why is it not a 'test of membership' as the LDS. Shocked
