Are there spikes in the water baptism numbers? It's not unreasonable that they would be low for a single month, since a lot of churches baptize quarterly (or even less often Embarassed ). However, if that one month is representative, it doesn't even make sense to have a conversation about the gifts of the Spirit when a commanded sacrament is being so profoundly ignored.

No. If you get the international stats it will confirm the trend.

Post Quiet Wyatt
I think a lot of the problem is our modern idea that salvation is receivable by just repeating a prayer, that water baptism and baptism in the Spirit are strictly optional and ultimately unnecessary (as opposed to the clear New Testament pattern of repent, believe, be baptized, and receive the Holy Spirit). After reading the posts on another thread, I decided this would make for interesting discussion.

What percentage of our membership believe in and actually speak in other tongues?

How soon until we are no longer a Pentecostal denomination?

What would say to you that the CofG is no longer Pentecostal? If, in fact, only 1/4 of all active CofG members confess to and practice the manifestations of Holy Spirit baptism, are we Pentecostal?

If our current rate of fulness, in our doctrinal definition, is only 15% what does that suggest to you?

in our church we have tongues and interpretation more services than not. We also have other gifts at times so the answer as far as I can see is "no".

Encouraging to hear!!
