We have had such great success beginning in pastors that is so poorly matched to the churches that it is hard to believe pastors could do worse. The fact that many thinks the church and the pastor knows less than the AB does amaze me. Pastors that raise up their successors normally make smooth transitions, Vision normally continues, Staff normally remains and Church remains healthy. Sounds awful to me. _________________ DOW MOSES |

The system we are using now to place pastors with congregations is what I would call a hybrid system.
It is a combination of central style and congregational style. Central in the sense that the state overseer has a big input and congregational in that they have a say. While I agree in allowing congregations to have a say in choosing their pastor, I think many congregations don't really know how to do it. They don't know the right questions to ask a potential candidate. They are not educated fully on the process.
There is a lot of primping and preening for the one day when the "try out takes place. Everyone is on their best behavior for the couple of hours of the "try out." Everyone puts on their best face and no one misbehaves. Often the reality of the situation is hidden...from both parties.
There has to be a better way! _________________ "Now unto Him who is able to do exceeding, abundantly, above all..." |

Most pastors know who would be better for the church. I tend ot go with the pastors opinion unless it is a family member. That is not to say the family member might not be right, but the vote should be taken with the names of ALL the local men who opt for the position along with the ones the overseer had available.
Of course it is a touchy situation, referring to what I have seen on the video, personally I think the pastor has placed himself 'in opposition to the overseer' unless this was discussed before hand with the overseer his plans to do this. Other wise it is a situation an overseer should not be placed in.. JMHO _________________ Some facts but mostly just my opinion!

Just because a pastor and or MOM is in place at a church doesn't always state that the congregation is happy with them. I understand that if the church is healthy and strong and no doubt that the people love, respect and are on board with the pastors vision that this would seem to be the logical solution. There might be a case where a pastor and a successor work hand in hand to make a clean transition and everyone would be happy.
BUTTTTT if the church has dwindled down and it is very obvious that the church is just longing for the day that the pastor retires why should he be allowed to groom his successor. He hasn't been healthy for the church so why should he have anything to say in the matter. The voice of the people should be heard and not only the pastor and his certain council men. |

I am sure that was a plan that the church was on board with. Just curious if there was an actual vote though? Or was it just announced? |

Really? They also had serious issues as well and moved into a smaller facility. They have had issues for years .. |

I am still waiting for someone to say this is not so or this is not happening. Unfortunately NO one from RH has come forward to deny anything that has been said. |

Our present system is antiquated, fosters the old boy system and political favors, and men being placed in churches that are not a good fit. _________________ Doctor of Bovinamodulation |

You never know what can take place over Camp meetings and General Assembly. Things can change on a dime sometimes behind closed doors. Just pray the leaders have the where with all not to let things like this take place and realize how crooked this person is. |
