Post Is Cleveland more concerned with the mega more than the small? Ernie Long
Are we who make up the denomination?

Kevin Wallace is the latest large, big, mega, popular pastor and church to leave the CoG.

I was just wondering, how many small, mediocre, little, unknown pastors and churches have to close to gain the attention of one mega church and pastor?

We should be concern for every church that closes as much as we are of the ones that leave, regardless of who the pastor is or how large the church.

Perhaps Cleveland wasn't concerned.
He left didn't he?

Maybe all are treated the same.

Know of two different situations concerning two different pastors in two different states under two different AB's where the churches ran less than 75. One was asked to leave the church, the other was told to close the church. Why? Both had asked their respective state offices for financial help in paying the utility bills. Both of these pastors were paying most of the churches bills themselves. After these pastors left their churches, the SO ended up paying the bills of the churches after all.

One is now pastoring an independent church, doing better than the church that he was asked to leave and the other is sitting in a pew wondering if he will ever pastor again.

Both have lost all faith in the CoG and the CoG doesn't care.

The Church of God cares.

It's the officials in Cleveland and in many state offices that don't.

I am Church of God!

In my doctrine and practice.

The Church of God is more than Cleveland.

Bigger than Cleveland.

Better than Cleveland!

Tomlinson had it right when he said "Do not let these minutes be used to establish a denomination".

With so much emphasis on government early on, it amazes me how they missed it.

It has been few and far between, but I have had pastors call me to see how my family and I are doing and I have done the same. The only time I hear from the SO is when I am behind in ToT or about a state function.

I'm not sure they 'care more' for the mega church than the small, but the mega church problems sure gets their attention.

It is for sure they will need a pastor to follow that has the heart for that work and KNOWS how to assume leadership, in my opinion that is the key.

I do hope a lot of prayer for guidance in the selection WORKS!

About overseers and ALL size churches. i had a friend as a SO has a list of the pastors & phone #'s and made it a mission to call each one AT LEAST once a year. In my short time I only had an over seer call me to see if I wanted to move to a church that was open. Shocked
