Post Are you an old fashioned, old school, old timer? bradfreeman
Are you old-fashioned? Old-timey? Old school?

"Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” Rev. 21:5

Brace yourself.

Post I find myself contemporaneously Mark Ledbetter
linked with the Holy Spirit, the Father, and Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever.

And, though written centuries ago, I find the Holy Scriptures - The Law, The Prophets, The Writings, The Gospels, and the Apostolic Writings, inspired by God and upon which I base my core values that help determine my values, attitudes and actions.

Oh, He's not waiting until you die to do a new thing, establish a new covenant with a new priesthood, give a new commandment, open a new and living way, make a new man, give new tongues, put a new song of redemption in our mouths, make you a new creation, a new lump, or pour out new wine into new wineskins.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Cor. 5:17

Behold OTCP, all things have become new.

It's funny.

My physical body still appears to be the same old one.

Guess Brad is wrong...all things have not already become new.

I personally can't believe Brad is wrong. Stunned. I can't believe Brad has interpreted timing of scriptures incorrectly. Unbelievable. I wonder how often that happens to Brad?

We are re-newing our minds.
Our bodies will be made new in the resurrection.

But Paul wasn't wrong when he wrote "all things have become new".

You just don't understand what "things" he's talking about.

He's talking about the final order - the New Earth. As usual - what in the world are you taking a "final order" Scripture and relating it to in your life now? I mean - there are other Scriptures that actually relate to things being new now, so why take a post millennial Scripture and try to apply it that way? It's unnecessary. Golf Cart Mafia Underboss

Sorry man - you said all.
It hasn't happened yet, thus you are incorrect.
All the reinterpreting the meaning of "all" after the fact doesn't change it.

But your interpretation of the the timing of that occurrence is where you are wrong.

Like oldtimer said - when we all get to heaven.

Stick with OTCP. Laughing

You may not be in Christ. I am.

You may not be a new creature in Christ. I am.

You may not be reconciled to God. I am.

You may not be the righteousness of God. I am.

You may not have the ministry of reconciliation. I do. Maybe in Heaven you will.

2 Cor. 5:16 Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Post Disappointed Pastor Nations
After reading Brad's post I ran outside to look - but was so disappointed.

My car is still old, not new like I'd hoped.

Final order? It's not done on earth yet as in Heaven, but Rev. 21:5 is not irrelevant to our present lives. This process is ongoing. We are part of the process of bringing Heaven to earth.

2 Cor. 5:14 For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; 15 and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.

"All died" is past tense. It has already happened. We were "in Christ" when He died and rose again on our behalf.

2 Cor. 5:16 Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

"...from now on..." means from now on. We were all in Christ on the cross and "if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature". This is our present condition. We are "in Christ". Are you suggesting we aren't "in Christ" and won't be "in Christ" until a final order - that we aren't joined to the Lord, aren't His body?

2 Cor. 5:18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

"Now" means now. This is our "word of reconciliation". "Now all these things..." are the "new things" that "have come" - past tense.

This isn't a "final order" scripture. It's a "now" scripture.

What is wrong with you people???? I don't agree with everything Brad posts, but this is the Word and you all are poking fun at God's Word just to disagree with Brad. Some of you all are a sorry bunch, you argue for the sake of arguing. I guess nothing has changed for you and so it is the same with you, BUT when I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, my old self died and I began a new way of thinking, walking, talking, and believing. Guess I'm not thinking young enough. Rolling Eyes
