The most effective prayer is asking with confidence that your Father is generous, isn't fault-finding and wants to help.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." James 1:5 (NIV)
Your Father's willingness to help is not in question.
Our ability to single-mindedly believe that He is good and generous is.
"But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways." James 1:6-8
2 minds.
The mind set on the flesh, the knowledge of your own good and evil.
The mind set on the Spirit, the life and blessing we enjoy in Christ.
"For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace," Rom. 8:6
The double-mind is creates instability and keeps you from receiving the generosity of your Father.
The double mind has one eye on the flesh:
Have you prayed enough? Have you done enough?
And one eye one the Spirit:
Jesus finished the work of removing everything that separated and disqualified me from life, blessing and my Father's care.
"For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways." James 1:7,8 _________________ I'm not saved because I'm good. I'm saved because He's good!
