Post (Yes, this is the BLOWHARDS thread)...Are you SURE you should never, never, never, never vote for Trump??? Aaron Scott
There are really no Republican candidates that meet all of our "high standards."

Trump? I need not say anything else. This guy has all sorts of issues that cause us to just shake our heads.

Cruz? Well, if he really is a dirty-ball player...and if (and that's just an IF) he did consort with prostitutes at some point in the past, he's a no-no.

Kasich? Personally, I like his candidacy style best. But the truth is that he fits right in with EVERY OTHER REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE from the past few years. That is, he's not too far this way or that...he won't rock the boat much. Folks, I WANT the boat rocked!

I hear people say, "I will never vote for Trump." OK, I hear you. I even can see something going on (I think) in the media....

At first, they joyfully play his sound bytes, since it brings in ratings. Of course, he had no chance, they thought.

Except, the media finds that he DOES have a chance. Yet every attempt to derail Trump keeps backfiring. Trump keeps on going, stronger and stronger. They hurl things at him, he hurls back...and grows stronger!

If Trump loses a state, the media almost seems to cry out as one: "It's over: Trump is done." If anyone else loses a state, it apparently means little or nothing.

Now there seems to be an attempt to not completely ignore Trump, but to report only the negative...to not say very much about him...hoping, it seems, to cool off any ardor Americans might have for him.

BUT HERE'S THE REAL ISSUE!!!!

Again, I hear people say, "I will never vote for Trump." I want you to consider something....

Let's assume that Trump gets the nomination from Republicans. Now he turns his "guns" on the Democratic candidate with the same withering fire--and more--that he had previously used on his Republican candidates. It looks as if he is going to win...but a lot of folks have declared they would never vote for him. Bummer. Trump loses.

So, where does that leave us? The imperfect Trump, for all his issues, would likely have appointed three, four, or even more Supreme Court justices. We can't be sure he would do it just like we'd want it, but it seems certain that he would do a better job than Hillary or Bernie!

Instead, Hillary or Bernie do the appointing. And so abortion goes on...as well as every other part of the liberal agenda.

In other words, WE HAVE THE BEST OPPORTUNITY IN LIVING HISTORY to make over the Supreme Court...but someone got upset that Trump wasn't Christian enough...or that Romney wasn't non-Mormon enough. You get the idea...and so we throw it all away.

What we REALLY WANT, apparently, is for a perfect man to be elected...and only then will we finally agree that he is permitted to appoint Supreme Court justices that will/may end abortion.

ARE WE HYPOCRITES?

It's one of those moral conundrums where we have to hold our nose (so to speak) to obtain some greater good.

It's not immoral to vote for a man who is imperfect. I'm not a Trump fan. But I have concluded that when you have a range of imperfect options, you go with the one that will do the least harm/greatest good.

Yes, I like Bernie (with my socialist bent, and all), but he comes across as someone who can talk it up all night long and go on and on and on about what changes are needed...but will never, ever, ever have the organizational skills to really make the "needed" changes to ensure that everyone gets a piece of the pie. Further, he is so liberal as to ensure that the gay agenda and the abortion "agenda" are supported in the extreme.

So, when you get right down to it, Trump, for all his imperfections, is the ONLY CANDIDATE who offers ANY indication that he will nominate good men/women to the Supreme Court.

Otherwise--and I mean this sincerely--if you refuse to vote for Trump (we are assuming that Trump gets the nomination, remember?) and a liberal president takes charge, placing terribly liberal justices in the Supreme Court...I DON'T WANT TO EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER HEAR YOU BELLYACHE AGAIN ABOUT ABORTION!

Take that one off your list. Find a new drum to pound. Find a new cause to espouse. Because you will have proven that, when you had the chance, you couldn't pull the trigger on abortion. Maybe it's some deep-seated, psychological issue, in which you find you need the abortion issue so that you can whine about Democrats, etc.? Maybe it's something inside you that needs attention. Who knows? But plan to forever shut your mouth about abortion.

Now, Trump is no guarantee against abortion. Personally, I feel the issue is gone forever. But the right Supreme court just might return the issue to the states at some point...and at least some states can say no to abortion.

But while Trump is no guarantee that abortion will be stopped, a Democratic presidency is a guarantee that abortion WILL be supported.

OK, that's about all I need to say on that, I trust. If you don't vote for Trump (assuming he's the nominee)...and if a Democrat gets in...and you say something about how bad abortion is, I will be forced to take my ball-peen hammer and....

Yep, I agree with you. I have joined the camp or 'Anyone but---------.' and it is 'Anyone but Hillary' (disregarding Bernie, no matter how hard he tries he ain't got a chance)

When it comes down to it I am voting for the one with the best chance to beat Hillary, I do not think it will be a third party candidate.

Of course we have no idea what a TRump Presidency will do, but I think we all know what a Hillary and Bill will do.

Anyway that is the long way of saying, Amen! Cool

I want a leader that can beat hillary. I do not want a leader that resorts to degrading people and calling names to anyone who disagrees with him in a public forum. What kind of leader is that???? I'll tell you what kind of leader it is , it is one that is only fit to lead a 3rd rate bar room at 1:00 am on a saturday night in the slum part of town.

I really dont like people that degrade other people especially in public. You can have your demeaning chats in the backroom not in a public forum. Its a classic sign of lower intelligence and borders on complete ignorance.

If this was just a random thing I could really overlook it but its the nature of the beast.

Show me a just one successful CEO that uses this type of leadership that doesnt have a silver spoon in his mouth and I'll change my mind.

To add to that , if anyone on this board was continually calling you names , or anyone else on this board , they also would be on my garbage list.

Actually, Trump said his sister (a very liberal pro-partial-birth abortion Federal Judge) would make a phenomenal Supreme Court Justice. http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/423196/trump-praises-his-sister-pro-abortion-extremist-judge-ramesh-ponnuru

A vote for Trump is a vote for more pro-abortionist judges.

I will never vote for a Trump period.

As far as abortion, the GOP has had plenty of chances to make a stand and a difference in the past 20 years but they never did.

So really when it comes to abortion, much like a lot of issues, it's not really that important to the GOP.

One issue is not enough reason to vote for someone like Trump, especially when he's Apt to change his mind.

I agree the GOP doesn't really care about abortion. That's one very big reason why I am not and have never been a member of their party. [Insert Acts Pun Here]

Post Quiet Wyatt, C6th, and Patrick Harris...logical points Aaron Scott
QW, if indeed he would appoint a very pro-abortion justice, then we would want to avoid him. Consider, however, that while Trump MAY do that (and probably wouldn't due to legitimate claims of nepotism from the Democrats and claims of abortion-support from the Republicans), Hillary will CERTAINLY appoint a pro-abortion justice. Consider whether your vote on what "might" happen is strong enough to justify what Hillary WILL do? Just consider?

Patrick, you are right. I finally figured out--something around the GWB era--that we could have done a WHOLE LOT MORE about abortion...but didn't. Nope. Had a war to run, apparently. Terrorists to search for. While we let the abortionists go ahead with their grisly trade here.

HOWEVER, unless you truly intend to take that off your list FOREVER--consider that next time there is an election, one guy is FOR abortion and one AGAINST, but you absolutely will not allow that to influence you in the slightest--I hope you will vote for Trump IF IF IF he is the nominee. NOT because he "deserves" it, but because, before we forsake the abortion issue forever, we surely ought to give it the best we can at this incredible juncture where we might be able to truly impact the Supreme Court.

C6thplayer, you are right: Donald Trump is a boor and needs to be smacked for being such a TOTAL CHILD in his language. He truly comes across as a spoiled kid who is now all grown-up.

But, yes, CEO's are notorious potty mouths. Of course, many of them are smart enough (or sensitive enough to public feelings) that they keep it behind corporate walls. CEO's have read the reports that indicate that profanity can intimidate your rivals, make you look stronger, etc. And, most of them having qualities associated with psychopaths, they will do WHATEVER IT TAKES to win.

Jack Welch, who is considered by many to be one of the finest CEO's in history (doesn't make it true, of course) is on his third marriage. He lost his wife and family because he was so intent on making GE grow, etc.

Trump, on the other hand, being over his OWN company, does have to navigate PR concerns, of course, but he also likely feels much more freedom to speak his mind. Worse, he has a weakness: If you call him a name or make him look bad, he HAS to hurt you. Can't help it. Must, must, must say bad things about that person.

If he goes to the general election, it will be a button that is pushed over and over. Some nasty statement made to him (or at least perceived by him to be bad), and the other candidate just smiles and let's Trump go all out.

Witness the Trump/Rosie debacle. Trump doesn't even realize how muddy he got himself. All he can see is his anger for Rosie. Further, the insults are so adolescent that it makes one wonder the level of his emotional intelligence ("Well, you...you are so...UGLY!")

BUT FOR ALL OF THAT, again, we are at the precipice of a Supreme Court change that is the most massive in our lifetimes, so far as I can recall. Hillary/Bernie WILL fill those vacancies with the most liberal people they can find. It's then ALL OVER for conservatives when it comes to abortion, homosexuality, and any other liberal item.

Joab was David's general. David harbored tremendous doubts and dislikes about Joab...but not when it came to fighting faithfully for him. In fact, upon David's death, he ordered Solomon to kill Joab for all the things he had done that were evil (you know, like, at David's orders, killing Uriah, the husband of Bathsheba). But that doesn't mean that God didn't use Joab for some notable victories and for the protection of David, the Lord's anointed.

Consider these things, my brother.

If Trump is the nominee, I will vote Libertartian and will not be intimidated by name calling. My decision is not based on your assumption of I can't find anyone who lives up to my standard in the GOP. I am just not that conservative socially but I am fiscally. Most people are Libertarian in thought but will not vote that way. This year, I will. I did in the US Senate race in Georgia as well.

All of that said, Trump will not be the GOP nominee.

Trump will lose the general election on the female and Hispanic votes alone.

I used to be "Never Trump", I've softened though I still do not want him and will very unenthusiasticly consider voting for him but we all might as well get ready for a Clinton presidency.

Many will not vote for him. Women, Hispanics, etc.

Even if every born-again Christian voted for him I still believe it would be a close loss.

Put me in the "Sure wish it wasn't Trump" camp. Sad

I love it when Trumpkins think calling people names and threatening them with hammers is going to help their lost cause. Trump is going down in the national election polls, not up. He is resorting to threats as well, threatening delegates now. What a joke. Golf Cart Mafia Consigliere

Joke is the key word here and trump fits it to a T. Not to worry though he will never be the nominee.

Post Folks, I don't care for Trump either! Aaron Scott
But when you have a half-chance of changing the Supreme Court For the next 50 years or more, with decisions lasting even longer, and that is set up against the fact that if the Republican nominee (Trump or whomever) loses, then we have pretty much a 100% chance of "destruction" via a newly appointed Supreme Court that enables all sorts of debauchery and non-commonsense...that should be an easy, logical, and morally obvious choice to make.

Eddie, you may indeed be leftward of some of us socially. But unless you are as leftward as Hillary or Bernie, take heed to not allow your principled vote to, in reality, be a vote against the founding principles of our nation (via their demise by the Supreme Court). In most election cycles, dear friend, you wouldn't get a peep out of me. You know I'm not a Republican either. But for the first time in a long time, the stakes are higher than ever on the third branch of govt. At least think it over?

God bless.
