Post Please Fellers, Learn the Difference Tween "Prophecy" & "Prophesy" Old Time Country Preacher
They is a reason these here two words is spelled differently, its cause they two different words. No wonder we got folk graduated hi school what can't even read an all, cause we got fellers/gals with BA degrees, MDiv degrees an some even got docters degrees (although a heap of em is fake) what can't even differentiate tween words like prophecy an prophesy. Or to, too an two.

My gootness an all, we got preachers who wanna tell us they know the middle name a the angel what pours out the 4th bowl durin the tribulation, but cant even git the word prophecy right. Shocked

Full Definition of PROPHESY

transitive verb
1
: to utter by or as if by divine inspiration
2
: to predict with assurance or on the basis of mystic knowledge

proph·e·cy
ˈpräfəsē/Submit
noun
a prediction.
"a bleak prophecy of war and ruin"
synonyms: prediction, forecast, prognostication, prognosis, divination, augury
"her prophecy is coming true"
the faculty, function, or practice of prophesying.

What am I missing other that ones a noun and the other a verb?

Don't overthink it, c6th. Ole Timer's just got his knickers in a twist on account of some folks cain't spell good. That's all. It's just the little "c" and "s" gettin swapped that has caused the Ole Timer ta have such a fit.
Who'd a thunk it?

I could have prophesied this thread was coming.

Is that the correct pronunciation.

I confess my sin of misspelling or the misuse of the two words.

And please don't say 'prophesize'. I don't get Pentecostals and Charismatics doing that. Maybe Baptists or Methodists. Prophesy should be a familiar word to us.

If your gonna' spell 'prophesy' don't be lose with your spellin'. Smile
