He broke a school rule.

But the rule was not to take a knee and pray after a football game.

Should you break a rule that stops you from praying on a public school football field?

I say you should break it.

Probably so, especially if you're a Gator Coach. Laughing Laughing

Really dumb. If he was forcing everyone on his team to participate, then yes, that would be a violation of their First Amendment rights. As it stands, they are prohibiting both him and willing students from voluntarily exercising their First Amendment rights.

Typical and unsurprising. This quote really says it all: "Strict adherence is required and expected, and violations cannot be tolerated."

What about the "rule" of praying as to be seen by men? Can't you just go back to the office and say a prayer?

Sure - Daniel and Hebrew boys could have prayed hidden in the office, as well.

How are you able to make the judgment that this coach is praying to be seen?

What makes you think he isn't praying out of desperation, at the thought of the state of today's youth? How are you able to see and judge his heart?

It didn't sound like a question to me, it sounded like an accusation.

BTW - I'm participating in the discussion as well.

It was.

And Eddie was wrong here.

Thankfully, he retracted. I do it often.

It could just be me, but the last time I checked this is still the US..... and we can pray pretty much anywhere we choose.

I am always amazed at how some people get upset because a person doesn't mind taking their faith public.

From all I have read this coach has never sought to bring attention to himself, has never asked anyone to join him or forced players to do what he does.

I have no problem with people who disagrees with what he does, but because you disagree doesn't mean that he shouldn't or doesn't have the right to do it.
