soooo,
Hell Houses, Judgment House and our and others Trip to Hell are really just a different method to present what many of you might be familiar with - the Heaven's Gates & Hell's Flames drama of the 80's etc. The concept presents choices. Everything is a choice in life - and they are presented as scenes within the house, trip etc. Drunk Driving, Abortion (the individual who has had an abortion is NOT judged per se, but the death of a child is shown to be a choice influenced by the devil), nominal church attendance (especially effective in the Baptist Bible Belt but we have to indicate a chance to "rededicate to Christ vs "getting saved" since they already are, hmmm), rave scene, suicide etc. After showing all the scenes including Jesus dying the group is moved to a Hell Scene where satan discusses with them what they have just seen and then the group is taken out of hell to make a decision for Christ and then escorted to a prayer room where counselors are waiting to discuss with them and pray with them about what they have seen or just done. The dramatic presentation is effective for every age but over the years it evolved into primarily youth/teens/20 somethings although many adults came thru as well. We did have many church youth groups come but as you can imagine there were many in those groups that were either unsaved or nominal in their faith. I have no idea how many stayed saved after getting "scared straight" but we have to leave that to Jesus and present the opportunity to all. It was great fun and in my mind was a highly effective outreach as was Heaven's Gates when we did those. |
