So you don't believe the book of Revelation or Matthew 24 has to do with end time events? Wow...

This was the position held by almost every believer on Earth until dispensationalism was invented by John Darby in the 1800s.

To be clear, Matthew 24 and Revelation had a lot to do with end time events for the audiences to which they were spoken and written. A lot.

I get that. But isn't there also a prophetic "layer" so to speak, such as when Abraham offered the ram in the bush but it also pointed ahead to Jesus' sacrifice?

Seriously...you people don't believe Revelation is related to end time events? Do y'all believe anything the COG teaches?

Post Quiet Wyatt
I believe Matt. 24 and much of the Book of Revelation (as well as much of the New Testament) relate to end-time events (both in the first century and in our own). That said, I absolutely don't believe in the prognostications of so many like Hagee, Lindsey, etc. Nor do I find the pretrib theory biblically defensible. (I truly DO wish I could believe it). I certainly believe in the premillenial second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, as the CoG has always held to, however.

Mr. Corey's blog is typically filled with exaggerations, mischaracterizations, the kind of over-the-top rhetoric so typical of former fundamentalists.

There's content in Revelation about end times for us, yes.

Honestly, your question really belies how thoughtlessly dogmatic people get about this. Because I'm unconvinced by the COG's teaching on eschatology, you question whether I (or others) believe anything they teach? That's silly. You haven't asked one question about what other interpretation there might be, to see if there was any biblical validity in it, or made any effort whatsoever to investigate a viewpoint other than your own, even though this line of interpretation seems new to you. You've just stared at me with mouth gaping at the fact that someone might have a different point of view. Maybe there's not any biblical validity to it at all. But as it stands right now, how would you ever know?

EDIT: I hope my post did not come across as rude. If it did, I sincerely apologize. I am not trying to be rude. I do think the question shows how dogmatic people are about a doctrine that was invented in the 1800s, and I do think that's unfortunate.

I'm sorry...this was not directed at you, Dave. And it is not this post necessarily that astounds me. I've heard this before, but with the same dogmatic interpretation that it only applies to AD 70. And I've also heard many other things expressed here that I don't believe re: alcohol consumption, OSAS, etc., etc. When I first came to ACTS, I used to get into arguments...um...discussions about such things, but I don't waste my time now, because those who believe differently are not going to change my mind and I'm not going to change theirs. There are certain doctrines I am very clear on.

End time prophecy is not one of them. I can see where some interpretations could be twisted to point in a certain direction. I really have not done a lot of study in end time because I've never really understood it well. It is something I need to study & understand more. But to say Matthew 24 & Revelation don't have anything to do with end time events is astounding to me.

I agree with what QW said. The article is slanted and exaggerated and is not balanced & does not reflect what I believe.

I think there is a lot of symbolism in the Bible and many of us are confused as to what is and what is not symbolism. I know this. Somebody is making a lot of money off of 4 blood moons and it's not me.

I sense in my spirit right now that someone has a headache or backache. I also sense someone is having financial troubles. Others are struggling with rebellious teens.

Am I a prophet or what, dude?

Water was found on Mars and Facebook decided to charge $5.99 according to reports on Channel 13.

Seriously, I bet the Cubs win the World Series.

My biggest problem with the Hagee thing has always been calling these eclipses "blood moons".

I have never looked at any of them - and thought the moon turned to blood.

Perhaps the moon turned into an orange - but not blood.

The biblical reference to the moon turning to blood should be a lot more significant than an orange moon.

Even the scientists and news stations are calling it a blood moon. Not something Hagee started.

I don't think so...but if true - they are as inaccurate on that as they are on man made global warming. I've been around a while - no one called them blood moons when I was younger - I don't remember them being called blood moons in 2001 neither.
