Post still laughing about ..."pleasing each other"....L caseyleejones
Heres a question since everyone is extraspiritual in the sex arena today.

Is it wrong to masturbate in front of your spouse if that is what they want? Come on...isnt it about pleasing the other?

Well thank you for clearing that right up. I'll try to get in to see my counselor today, since some guy named PreFontaine, quite likely the most intellectually astute and certainly among the most prolific posters on ActsCelerate-thinks I'm stupid.

While I appreciate your generous words, I never said YOU were stupid...I said comparing our sins to each other's is stupid. I don't know you at all. You may be a genius - of course, you used to be the PH Bullet, so let;s not get ahead of ourselves. I am just playin' with ya. I think another post said that Christians ought to be able to disagree without getting mad at each other, and that's where I'm at. If you're at GA, I'd love to have lunch with everyone here - whether I agree with your theology or not...I just won't be shaking some of your hands after what I've read here. The sinfulness of the act in question will continue to be debated, but there is no question about the enslaving nature of masturbation. Some of you here are pastors, and I bet there are those in your congregation who are absolutely in bondage to masturbation and pornography.

Have you ever spoken to a Christian counselor? If you have, you would know that a very large percentage of people who come in for counseling are there because of sexual abuses of one variety or another. Almost every one of those instances involved masturbation of some kind.

One more thing; consider something that Apostle Paul told the Corinthian church. He was talking about matters of sexuality, marriage, divorce to them. He said that it was good for a man not to touch a woman. He argued that the preferable alternative was celibacy. Having given his personal preference, he also told those who were burning with lust, that they needed to get married. Had Paul taken the stance that masturbation was a viable alternative for dealing with hormones, it is doubtful he would have encouraged men and women to enter matrimony for these reasons.

And furthermore, masturbation does not cure the problem of lust. It only provides a temporary release. Like any addictive behavior, the desire only grows stronger.

You assume that 'burn' here is some kind of physical build up of pressure that needs release. What if he is thinking of something more emotional? Paul uses the word 'burn' in another verse where he asks who sins and he does not 'burn.'

Think about all the single people at a movie theater alone, looking at the couples leaving holding hands, having someone to love, looking at them, feeling lonely. Lots of people fall into fornication for emotional reasons when they get in dating relationships in our culture. That's probably more often the case with women rather than men, but it works both ways.

Post I know that this is primarily a male issue because of the caseyleejones
we are wired. However, let me add that this does take place within our female counterparts. Please dont ask me how I know but I do.

Is it pornographic for women to do it and fantasize romantically?

I fail to see how the sex act can be completed without some degree of masturbation in front of one's spouse.

And fwiw, I'd say a hundred percent NO it's not wrong...and yes it is about pleasing the other.

Some of you love machines should go through a time of physical limitation and see if your legalism still holds up. Everyone is not as fit as a Church of God preacher and can do it all night long like those love gods of the pulpit.

Post Bullet, you understood my tongue in cheek here..... caseyleejones
correct?

I just thought it was funny to hear that the reason men have sex is to please their wife.....in fact I am still laughing.

In alot of ways, sex for men could be construed as a selfish act. Do we romance our wives because they want it or do we do it so it will lead to something later?

Again, don't over spiritualize sex. Just do it and enjoy.

According to one of our speakers at Winterfest this past weekend (I don't remember which one) the fasting growing demographs of people viewing porn are female. So, I don't know that we can say this is primarily a male issue anymore.

that may be the dumbest made-up statistic I've ever heard...

of course it would grow faster among females if it's already assumed the majority of males view it!

The statistic had to do with new viewers. As in reference to teens. Teenage girls are viewing it as much or more than teenage boys. Sorry, I didn't give the full context of the stat, but you're right - I'm not much of a stat guy.

Which leads one to question if it is bondage or not. Few Christians continuously wrestle with crack addictions, or alcohol addictions, or gambling addictions, etc. Yet masturbation is so common. And everybody feels "bound".

Why can't the church be honest and realize that the reason so may "struggle" with it is because it is a natural part of being a human being. We put so much unnecessary shame on people.

Maybe people remain in bondage because there are too many people ready to throw mud at them. It's easy to help someone who admits to taking drugs, or being an alcoholic. It's slightly grosser, however, when someone tells you they are a porn freak, and they masturbate daily. Sex has become such a taboo subject that it is harder to get past it because there is more shame involved with admitting it. I think I would rather have to admit a drinking problem than a lust problem. While masturbating may or may not be a sin, I think we would all agree that porn is a sin - right?? I don't see how you could view porn without lusting, but that's just me - maybe you read it for the articles.
