I don't get why you include Carson on your list. He has no experience at all. He's even more boring to listen to than Kasich, who may have some of the most relevant experience out of the whole bunch. I think Kasich would probably make a decent president, and aside from the boring Charisma type issues, may be nondivisive enough to beat Hillary in an election. Boring versus likeability problem may work well. But I don't think he'll get the nomination.
I hope either Rubio or Cruz get the nomination. Cruz does seem rather wooden when making speeches. If it's Cruz versus Hillary, both may have a 'likeability' problem, which may level the playing field on that regard. Rubio seems more likeable to me as a person and more interesting to listen to.
I wonder if a Cruz-Rubio or Rubio-Cruz ticket or any ticket with either of them as the presidential nominee would permanently recruit a large number of Hispanics into the Republican party. That could be very good for Republicans, if Hispanics began to think of it as their party. Do Hispanics consider Cubans to be part of their own group, or are they Cuban instead of Mexican, Guatemalan, etc?
It's funny that of the top four from Iowa, there is only one Anglo-Celtic contender and a Hispanic won the most. |
We should reject the mentality that we must try to appear attractive to particular ethnic groups. I wish the GOP would make that part of their platform. _________________ "It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves UPCI |

It's funny that of the top four from Iowa, there is only one Anglo-Celtic contender and a Hispanic won the most. | Hey there Link!
I only included Carson on this go around because he had enough support in Iowa to stay in it for now and I would vote for him over Trump.
I agree about Kasich. I typically prefer the skill set of the former governors over the senators for Commander and Chief. I could get behind Bush, Christie and/or Kasich but I don't feel that any of them will be standing come nomination time. Thus my list was my order of preference, for now, of the top four coming out of Iowa.
I am not Hispanic but my understanding of my friends who are suggests that overall they are actually harder on Hispanic candidates and not as supportive across nationality lines: ie Puerto Ricans of Mexicans or El Salvadorians of Hondurans, etc. I don't pretend to know why but that is my observation.
Some have mentioned Rand Paul in this thread but his stance on Israel the last time I checked him out didn't really click with me. He seems to be an Isolationist and I find that incongruous with my personal beliefs and feelings of eschatology. So to clarify, I really prefer the governors but out of who is on top for now, I would support Cruz or Rubio with my current preference being Rubio. |
Israel does not need our money. Where in the Bible does it say we are required to defend Israel militarily? We certainly should not go against them militarily either. But they do have a disproportionate amount of Influence in our Congress. We usually end up endangering them by not letting them defend themselves. | America isn't mentioned in Scripture, at least not directly. I do have some theories about what becomes of her/us. It is less about the money for me and more about the alignment of hearts, values and support. When the time comes, God will defend Israel or at least God will defend His own promise and Word. My concern is for the heart and value system of our nation. I don't believe that America will be great again. I believe that we have entered the beginning of time before the return of the Lord. If we haven't and if we still have more time as a human race, I still believe that God will bless those that bless His promise and I still believe that He will curse those that curse His promise. While I do believe that as a part of His Church that we are now heirs to His promise, we can not refute that Daniel, Jesus and John all have Israel as ground zero for last day events. I'd rather be aligned with her for as long as we can than turn our backs on her in a time that we/America have emboldened radical Islamic terror organizations and hostile nations like Iran. _________________ Proverbs 3:5-6; John 13:34-35; Acts 1:8 |
